I did something that I have NEVER done before...and here’s what I learned.
On Friday, I tried something completely new to me: I did a pacing workout. Like, with running. Like, the kind that track runners (aka not me) do!! 😂😅I did 400s the entire time, which meant that instead of doing the full planned workout, I was just trying to find a consistent pace for myself two laps at a time. And it was HARD. But it was worth it.
I felt so amazed by what I experienced. Besides the fact that I pushed myself and experienced a new level of exhaustion🥵, I was comforted by how patient the coach was. He explained everything to me—why we needed to pace, what a good pace looked and felt like, and he jogged along side me more than once.
I mean, sure, everyone else at that workout was running laps around me, but I thought it was SO COOL that we were all there celebrating our strength and finding out what worked for us—or, what DIDN’T work for us 🤣 I didn’t compare myself to the girls that had clearly been runners for a while, nor did I compare myself to the guy that had to take a breather halfway through one set. I had no reason to!! We were all there doing our best, and that was AWESOME✨
Even when I was struggling to breathe and starting to get dizzy, I just felt so grateful that I found an online community that does the same thing. We recognize our different strengths and allow them to empower us. We all come from different levels of fitness, but we know the importance of focusing on getting 1% better everyday. We don’t COMPARE, we CELEBRATE. And that is so special to me and so heartwarming, and I’m so glad this community found me a little over 2 years ago❤️
If you’re looking for some of that celebration, the Healthy for the Holidays challenge starts TOMORROW, so let me know ASAP if you want to reserve your spot! 😍💌
