How to help improve your DIGESTIVE health!
Sometimes even when you have all the good intentions of staying on track and keeping your routine this doesn’t quite go to plan, and thats OK. We have some good tips for you on how to stay in control, ensuring that your digestion doesn’t go off track too much and cause that all too common bloat.
Our digestive system (gastrointestinal system or ‘gut’) is essentially a long tube that runs from our mouth to our a**s. It encompasses the stomach, small intestine and large intestine, and accessory organs- the pancreas, liver and gallbladder. It also incorporates the gut microbiome- an ecosystem of microbes (predominantly bacteria) living in our large intestine.
The primary role of the digestive system is the break down of food into macro and micro nutrients, and the subsequent absorption of these nutrients into the body. The digestive system is also one of the main elimination pathways for toxins that get bound up in the stool to be excreted. Healthy bowel habits are therefore an essential part of excreting unwanted waste and toxins.
