It’s about to be a boys week(s) here shortly on our stories as Harvey gets to spend the week with Dog Dad, getting spoiled rotten.

Football season, and Fantasy Football is upon us and I am not ready. I’m still over here in Summer Mode and am not mentally ready for fall things..

I usually nerd out on preparing my FFB draft, podcast all the hot trends and who is heating up in preseason. I am woefully unprepared this season. Let’s hope the Niners are in better shape than I am!

The power of perspective.

I reflected on where we were two years ago at this time and how so much has changed. Looking back on the hip pain I was still experiencing, two weeks after my screw removals and how I didn’t think about my hips once this past weekend.

Baby boy is turning 8 this year and I am not okay 🥺

Planning our next weekend getaway into the wilderness where we can gaze at more stars, hit the trails, sleep in our tent, and unplug from the world.

But we’re in for a doozy for a weekend with high temps 🥵 we might be making a lot of trips to the general market for ice refills and lots of shade at our campsite.

In absolute awe at the beautiful weekend we spent in Inyo National Forest, trekking along on the John Muir Trail and gazing into the clear blue lakes.

Couldn’t have asked for a more perfect return to backpacking 🥹

Pro tip: camping under the stars during a new moon means more visible stars. Worth.

It’s only took 3 years but we’re finally backpacking again!! And to the Eastern Sierras we go!

Can’t wait for this type 2 fun. Unplugging and off the grid til the weekend is over.

There’s nothing like traveling to other cities to make you feel more grateful about returning home.

Earlier this month, I visited Pittsburgh for the first time (sans Harvey) and as fun as the river, the lake, and the city was to see; it all just reminded me of how lucky we are to call San Diego home.

Some of my fave things about SD:
☀️ the ocean and the mountains can be reached within the same day
☀️ the perfect weather without the humidity or bugs/mosquitos
☀️ the diversity, the culture, and the variety of all aspects of life
☀️how walkable and dog friendly the city is

I’d rather be here.

We’ve been spending so much time at rivers and lakes this summer already, I’m constantly covered in sunblock.

Is there sun protection that I’m supposed to be using on Harvey? He’s never shown me any signs of too much sun exposure but this boy sure does love to sunbathe!

The amount of happiness on Harvey’s face when he’s in the water makes it all worth it!

Nothing but smiles and sunshine over here.

Finally feeling recovered and settled from our camping getaway, only to be off and jet-setting again! This time without Harvey..

I like to think my life is a good balance of dog mom duties that involve adventures with Harvey and a healthy dose of separation where I do only human travel expeditions.

Do you travel without your dog? Or no dogs means you’re not going?
