There is no attire as graceful, as versatile, as limitless as a saree. That twelve-cubit piece of cloth can be styled in endless ways, each drape telling a different story. Drawing inspiration from renowned saree revivalist Rta Kapur Chishti, the session highlighted how sarees are worn across regions, villages, and culturesโ€”and how even a simple saree, styled thoughtfully, can stand out beside the heaviest Benarasi.

Yes, modern life, long commutes, and physical discomfort often push sarees to the back of our wardrobes. But Bengali livesโ€”and Indian livesโ€”are incomplete without them. With the right drape, good pleating, and a touch of accessorising, sarees can be both comfortable and stunning.

Handloom sarees, especially, hold a special placeโ€”pure cottons and silks from Bengal, Odisha, Gujarat, the South, and even villages of Bangladesh.
