Out of the blue, a reporter from Cochise Co., Arizona has contacted me (Kelly)! He stumbled across the story of Aunt Effie (Nixon) and husband Mark Lamb, and their personal & legal trials & tragedies. He works for the historical journal down there & has taken a great interest in Effie & Mark's tragic lives "out west", so can hopefully turn up more details (court transcripts would be cool!) than the few photos & Daddy's telling of their story that I sent him.
A question for Effie's relations in this group... It seems that Effie filed for & received over 600 acres in two land grants in Arizona about three years before her commonly-accepted death date. Does anyone have detailed info on her supposed death & burial in San Diego?? She apparently had plans to stay where she was, with a large land acquisition. There are "other" Effie/Alice Nixon/Lamb names listed in California voting & assorted city records that were about her age, and I suspect that she did not go to California to die in 1931, away from her home of 30+ years.
Anything out there to contribute to this story? Documents, PROOF of when/where Effie died?
