It was an absolute joy for some of the ClimbFlow to actually get together IRL - it's been far too long!!

and had a meet up with founder at .

Before hitting the boulders the Crew went through a quick but activating and energising ClimbFlow warm up sequence to get the body primed and ready to roll.

In the words of Tabitaha " Climbing and yoga go hand in hand more than we think. The flexibility, strength and explosive power needed in climbing can be developed through a yoga practice...
..I have to admit I rarely follow a good warm up practice before climbing in spite of its importance in preventing climbing injuries - but it’s something I’m hoping to do more of and eventually develop my own warm up sequence!"

Sending love to everyone in our Crew the world over!

Balance is key ✨

Balance in the moment, maintaining sense of self, trying to create better awareness of responses - it’s a lifelong and highly imperfect journey of learning, curiosity and improvement.

We're aware that the posts have been a little slow these last many weeks. It's been a time of transition and change for our Crew, and the need for space - and not being glued to social just for the sake of it - has been taken to keep things in balance - and to help pave things for better going forward - because we always want this space to be positive for our community.

Just a reminder that it's human beings on this side of the squares and rectangles 🌝 And with that, we're leaning in on you too - and we'd love to share more about what's been happening with you these last few months.

If you're getting back into your practise, do tag or feel free to DM over your videos and photos of the summer, and we'll look to share them here on our feed!

Stay true to you Crew ✨ 🙏 💛 🌞

Closing to the end of Q3, it could feel like things were static and we didn't get much done with life in an upheaval.

However when you start to list your accomplishments, be it personal or professional, you'd realise how it made a difference.

💡 Were there any new skills you learnt at work or from a new sport/hobby?
💡 How did you grow your professional network and personal relationships?
💡 What did you learn about yourself which made you readjusted your expectations on what mattered more?

🍏 Notice how these accomplishments have a common thread
🍏 Notice what kept you excited or resonated the most for you

We're so proud of what we have accomplished so far in this pandemic!

"The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance." - Alan Watts

How have you found managing the constant change and unknowns around you?

We know resistance and fighting has been a common experience - and a very natural one at that. But like dealing with raging waves or a stormy sea, perhaps we need to resist less and go with the flow if we are to float and not exhaust all of our energy 🌊

Letting go, or going with the flow, does not equate with giving up, or not trying, but rather experiencing a different and conscious exertion of effort to create the shifts we need in times of change.

We know the feeling of summer ending, it feels so brief this year, but we hope you've been able to take time to connect more deeply with you and your needs ✨

"You are the sky. Everything else is just weather."

Connecting with yourself through meditation is so fundamental. The weather, just like everything else is outside of you: your thoughts, distractions, emotions and daily fluctuations are only temporary.

What makes us an individual is separate from these things that seem to make up the consistency of life.

When we meditate, we inject far-reaching and long-lasting benefits. We lower stress levels, get to know our pain, connect better, improve focus, and we learn to be kinder to ourselves.

In meditation practise, we pay attention to our breath. In that, you learn how to return to, and remain in, the present moment—to anchor ourselves in the here and now on purpose, without any judgement.

When your mind starts to wander, bring your attention back to your breath.

Try meditating for 5 mins every single day and see what difference you'll notice!

Climbing as Therapy: In a recent article on , writer Olivia Jordan Cornelius .jordan.cornelius shared how she and her husband picked up climbing and moved to Spain for the summer for an adventure.

Having lost her husband to cancer after, she continued to turn to climbing as it is "a balance of physical exertion and mindful concentration that provides a counter to emotional pain."

In the same vein, Founder contributes thoughts to this article, in her sharing of how climbing helped her through the depths of depression, loss and grief.

ClimbFlow was born out of a love for climbing and yogic movement - but with the knowledge of movement supporting mental and emotional wellbeing as much as it does physical.

Climbing is a powerful movement medicine/therapy for the mind, which cultivates a mindset of resilience that can be applied into real life.

Not only does it help you get out of your head, it teaches you to be present.

If you're feeling stuck, unmotivated or just need a little nudge, get climbing, and see where it takes you.

"We rise by lifting others." - Robert Ingersoll

Show someone you care. They could be a neighbour, a stranger, a barista, the person you always see at the wall or gym. They could be anyone.

Kindness has shown to benefit our emotional wellbeing and improve overall happiness. Performing random acts of kindness promotes gratitude and wellbeing - there's so much to be grateful for today.!

Whether you're the giver or receiver, knowing that you've made someone's day better, will make you both feel more uplifted and motivated.

Some ideas to get you through, that can an extra special difference in these prevailing hard times:
🥰 Give up your seat on the bus or train
🥰 Compliment a stranger
🥰 Let another driver go in front of you in a traffic jam
🥰 Help senior citizens with their shopping bags
🥰 Smile at others (trust us...)
🥰 Big up a stranger or a buddy at the wall with some encouraging ALLEZ!! 🙌

There are endless ways to perform a random act of kindness. Always remember, it’s not how big the effort is, but the thought behind it that’s worth more!

There's a Chinese proverb saying that "Be not afraid of going slowly. Be afraid of standing still."

Going slowly is not defeat. Going slowly does not equate to failure. Going slowly is giving yourself the time to truly be you, and assess as you go, without comparing to what society's expectation of what success is.

We hope this reminder brings you the clarity for when you need it in whatever you are undertaking - be that your physical journey, or your mental-emotional one.

Keep putting one foot in front of the other Crew and enjoy this weekend!

And the are a go! 🙌 We're cheering 頑張って " Ganbatte!" for ALL the athletes making history in sport climbing's Olympic debut, serving as a celebration for this sport and the athletes we love so much, and as a gateway for the climbing athletes of the future! 🙏

Japanese culture is engrained with the spirit of "Gaman" 我慢 which means to exercise "great resilience". The seeing through of the Tokyo Olympics through these times of great global struggle is a poignant testament to the essence of gaman - and a reminder to all of us that we can, we must, be patient and persevere!

We thought it fitting to share this beautiful moment of Japan's (We love you Nonaka!) by in honour of climbing at these Tokyo and in tribute to all the athletes gracing the Olympic arena this week!

🙌 Will you join us in cheering, Crew! 🤗

We believe SELF is a priority at ClimbFlow: It's becoming way too easy to get lost in devoting ourselves with activities day in and out. Our focus gets divided on work, routines and maintaining relationships but we lose sight of ourselves.

Falling in love with yourself first is key to living a fulfilled life. When you forget to put yourself first, the symptoms that come along with it are frustration and anxiety.

How can you start to reconnect, rekindle and reclaim yourself?
💡 What makes you the most happy?
💡 When do you feel most yourself?
💡 What are you most proud of in your life?

Make these answers part of your daily and weekly ritual in any way you can - so that you remember what makes you tick!!

We know how hard that can be at first, and a lot of things we love doing are still not actively available to us. However, if can find small ways to integrate the actions/behaviours that light us up, we open a doorway to greater satisfaction - and also MOTIVATION - to continue our journey.

Taking cues from Thich Nhat Hanh, "It's very important that we re-learn the art of resting and relaxing. Not only does it help prevent the onset of many illnesses that develop through chronic tension and worrying; it allows us to clear our minds, focus, and find creative solutions to problems."

When we're decorated with "productivity", we forget how rest is especially crucial.

Here 3 tips to help you rest better:
🍃 Take power naps (where possible)
🍃 Limit caffeine intake past 3pm!
🍃 Bring in the essential oils - lavender, chamomile, patchouli in a diffuser, or in an oil burner have wonderfully calming and comforting properties to help you find rest more easily

More resting and "better quality" doing, Crew!

Review from Nastassja: "I started using ClimbFlow when the climbing walls were closed to complement my regular running. After only a few weeks of regular ClimbFlow signature classes, I noticed my core and upper body strength improving and much more flexibility in my hips and back."

26/07/2021

As human beings, we focus a lot on our failures and what we could have done better but let's recondition our perspective: building excellence [however that is defined by you] is a habit, and in doing something repeatedly as a process, can we cultivate that excellence.

If you're feeling low on your mistakes and "what ifs", challenge yourself to think about incorporating the mentality of excellence.

It's not about doing more, but about doing better by showing up, practising, and moving yourself forward!
