Last year, when I was invited to write the Diabetes Cookbook for Canadians for Dummies, I was in a different place, and this book marked a turning point in my career.

After 10+ years as a dietitian, I found myself wondering what was next. I felt a little burnt out and uncertain until this project came along at exactly the right time.

Authoring this book reignited my passion for diabetes, nutrition, and helping others thrive.

It reminded me why I started this work, to empower people to take control of their health through simple, practical changes that truly work.

Writing felt surprisingly natural and fulfilling. It allowed me to combine years of experience, client success stories (thank you for letting me be part of your journey), and evidence-based nutrition into a resource that’s both approachable and actionable.

Seeing my name on a published book from such a respected publisher For Dummies (and spotting it in person at Indigo, Chapters and Coles ) was a surreal and very proud moment. 🥹📚

My hope is that this book continues to inspire and support those on their journey to better health.

It took me hours just to make the “angry” head but it turned out way better than I expected 😅🎃

These costumes were from a few years back, when we used to dress up and go to Halloween parties. Now I just stay home, hand out candy, admire the kids’ creativity, and watch Is It Cake? H'ween edition, ofc! 👻

What remains as my fav Halloween memory is when a couple of 5-year-olds recited the cutest Halloween poem before asking for candy. I have no idea what they were saying, but it had 1000% heart.

Whole fruits and veggies are always a great choice — but I get it! For many of my busy clients, smoothies are a convenient way to fuel up on the go.

Here’s how to make your smoothie work for your blood sugars (and not against them):
✅ 1 serving of fruit → 1 banana or 1 cup berries or ½ banana + ½ cup berries
✅ Add protein → protein powder or high-protein milk
✅ Include healthy fats → 1–2 tbsp of seeds (chia, flax, or h**p)
