The organization started its work in 1992 by organizing the Club of interests including creative group. City council registered it on 26 December, 1996.

Our Story
LGBT Association 'LIGA' is the only non profit in Ukraine supporting four community centers for LGBTQ people in Mykolaiv, Odesa, Kherson, and Kyiv. LIGA supports LGBTQ health, works for HIV/STI prevention among MSM and LGBT; mobilizes and develops LGBTQ community; educates friendly specialists such as health care providers, police, media etc; supports allies groups such as parents and relatives of LGBT people; works with government and local authorities advocating for human rights for LGBT. LIGA is democratic organization based on membership. The higher making decision body is annual General Meeting of Association's members. The Meeting accepts and approves the general work directions, annual financial and program reports, elects the head of the organization, their deputy and Association's Members. The head of the organization and their duputy manages the Association between the General Meetings, develops the organization's strategy, represents it on national and international conferences, appoints the executive director. The executive director implements the current management of Association: forms the personnel, appoints and fires the workers, implements the current planning. Strategic goals of the organization for 2015-2018: 1. Building constructive dialogue with society and government for promoting positive policies aimed at observation rights of LGBT community in Ukraine. 2. Development of the resource center for providing aid and support to LGBT organisations and initiative groups in Ukraine aimed at strengthening activism and self-realization of LGBT community. 3. Creating conditions for pe*******on of new qualitative services for LGBT community.
