Dear friends,

With full hearts, we share that Joanna Macy, our beloved root teacher, mentor, and friend, passed away peacefully at home on July 19th, at 3:56PM Pacific Time.

Over these past weeks, Joanna continued to inspire us through her presence, clarity, and deep love for life. She chose to remain at home, where she was held in love, as she gently let go.

Joanna gave us a profound understanding of the gifts of grief and a vision for resilience. She offered the Spiral and the larger body of the Work That Reconnects not just as a framework, but as a way to move through the world with courage and tenderness. She reminded us, again and again, that the world is alive and we belong to it.

Though her body has left us, her work pulses in every one of us. In every moment of truth-speaking, in every gathering that dares to feel, in every act of sacred activism - we will keep her message alive.

May we carry forward her love of life. May we grieve with open eyes. May we continue the Great Turning she so faithfully named.

The Network is organizing an online gathering to celebrate her life, with the date to be announced soon.

Dear Spiral Centre Community,

Today it was decided that it is ok to share the news a little wider to welcome in more loving prayers and well wishes for our root teacher, Joanna Macy. We have been receiving updates this week from Anne Symens-Bucher, a long time friend and assistant to Joanna, and from Peggy, Joanna’s daughter.

Joanna Macy had a fall last weekend and broke her femur.
Surgery was a success and she continues to rest and recover in hospital surrounded by loving family, caregivers and excellent medical care.

If like us, you want to help in some way, and want to share your love and care in some way, Joanna has a Caring Bridge site where you can check updates and leave love notes:) Send us a private message and we will send along the link to the Caring Bridge site your way if you know or are friends with Joanna. Otherwise, we would happily pass along your greetings for you to ensure they reach her, as per the family's wishes.

Her daughter Peggy, son Jack, along with Anne, and others, ensure that messages get shared with Joanna. So far, they have been making a huge difference to her spirits and energy!

The talented Jo DelAmor will be offering several Work That Reconnects Spirals online in the coming months, including one THIS WEEK - on June 12!

Others are on August 14th and September 4th.

She'll be facilitating with Spiral Centre on September 7th.

In addition, Jo will be offering her signature (and truly wonderful!) 8-week online program for parents, Parenting in Tumultuous Times from September 18th to November 6th.

Monday was a big day in Canada with the Federal Election happening however tomorrow is an even bigger day! It is the day when the Supreme Court rules about the Marthur Case, a youth-led legal case fighting for climate justice in our country!

These kids are informed, motivated, resourced and brave as hell.
