From October 2025 to May 2026, this closed group for psychotherapists and clinicians will come together monthly in-person for the purposes of developing and deepening our local CPA-NA ecosystem here in Toronto through experiencing the Work That Reconnects (WTR).
‘Weaving Our Way Through’ arose in response to the call to connect with each other locally, during these painful, disturbing and distressing times and to tend to ourselves and each other by exploring a shared interest in the WTR as a way through.
The WTR is a dynamic body of work and a blueprint for our time that includes hundreds of individual and group practices designed to support a shift towards life-sustaining ways of living together with Earth. It was developed and curated over five decades by the late activist-scholar Joanna Macy, and others, informed by General Systems Theory, Deep Ecology, Indigenous wisdom traditions, and Engaged Buddhism.
By doing the WTR, we work with our pain, along with our fierce love, for the world and we (re)discover the full measure of our courage and creative potential. We (re)turn to our place as part of a larger living body, and we access our deeper wisdom. We spark our creative potential to generate both personal and environmental change, and take up the call to experience our hope in action.
In this Community of Practice, we will draw on the map of the Spiral- Gratitude, Honouring our Pain, Seeing With New and Ancient Eyes (or Perceiving in New and Ancient Ways), and Going Forth- to hold space for collectively experiencing the WTR principles and practices that normalize despair and distress as a healthy response to a planet in danger. In our time together, we will help each other transmute pain into possibility, nourish personal and collective relationships and contribute to shifting our ‘business as usual’ to a more life sustaining way of being as clinicians.
Each gathering will involve a check in, a Work That Reconnects practice, some time for quiet and creative reflection, some sharing (if desired) and a way of closing. It is designed to be a warm, tender monthly gathering that holds space for the space holders, welcomes us as we are, fortifies us through connection and allows for the opportunity to weave our way through.
