Sharing on behalf of School for The Great Turning

It brings me great joy to announce that I will be partnering with Lydia Violet, Adrián Villaseñor Galarza and the School for The Great Turning to offer a comprehensive 6-month online Work that Reconnects Facilitator Development Program, beginning January 31, 2026!

Lydia and Adrián are longtime friends and colleagues in Work that Reconnects. We first met many moons ago, in 2011, during one of several 10-day facilitator intensives we attended together, learning with our teacher, Joanna Macy. In this first year since Joanna’s passing, it feels especially meaningful to be collaborating with them in supporting the next generation of Work That Reconnects facilitators.

This offering is for those who feel called to deepen their relationship with the Work That Reconnects: to strengthen facilitation skills, to practice holding spaces of truth and tenderness, and to keep growing as humans in these precious and precarious times on planet Earth.

There are still a few spaces left, and we would love for those who feel called to this work to benefit from the journey together. Even if you can't make it to one of the sessions, the sessions will be recorded for you.

- Rebekah Hart, WTR Facilitator

From October 2025 to May 2026, this closed group for psychotherapists and clinicians will come together monthly in-person for the purposes of developing and deepening our local CPA-NA ecosystem here in Toronto through experiencing the Work That Reconnects (WTR).
‘Weaving Our Way Through’ arose in response to the call to connect with each other locally, during these painful, disturbing and distressing times and to tend to ourselves and each other by exploring a shared interest in the WTR as a way through.

The WTR is a dynamic body of work and a blueprint for our time that includes hundreds of individual and group practices designed to support a shift towards life-sustaining ways of living together with Earth. It was developed and curated over five decades by the late activist-scholar Joanna Macy, and others, informed by General Systems Theory, Deep Ecology, Indigenous wisdom traditions, and Engaged Buddhism.

By doing the WTR, we work with our pain, along with our fierce love, for the world and we (re)discover the full measure of our courage and creative potential. We (re)turn to our place as part of a larger living body, and we access our deeper wisdom. We spark our creative potential to generate both personal and environmental change, and take up the call to experience our hope in action.

In this Community of Practice, we will draw on the map of the Spiral- Gratitude, Honouring our Pain, Seeing With New and Ancient Eyes (or Perceiving in New and Ancient Ways), and Going Forth- to hold space for collectively experiencing the WTR principles and practices that normalize despair and distress as a healthy response to a planet in danger. In our time together, we will help each other transmute pain into possibility, nourish personal and collective relationships and contribute to shifting our ‘business as usual’ to a more life sustaining way of being as clinicians.

Each gathering will involve a check in, a Work That Reconnects practice, some time for quiet and creative reflection, some sharing (if desired) and a way of closing. It is designed to be a warm, tender monthly gathering that holds space for the space holders, welcomes us as we are, fortifies us through connection and allows for the opportunity to weave our way through.

Hello dear ones!

Feeling the weight of the world while raising kids? You’re not alone.

This is a gentle reminder that there's still time to register for this Sunday's special workshop with Jo delAmor.

We hope you'll join us for an evening that could shift how you raise children — and why.

Spiral Practice: Nourishing a Liveable Future
September 7, 7-9 pm, Eastern Time

And, importantly, anyone who is contributing to raising the next generation in a way that they find meaningful: expecting parents, grandparents, aunties, uncles, godparents, foster parents, stepparents, teachers, guardians, friends, youth workers, and more.

If you're contributing to raising the next generation and are feeling concerned (or other big feelings) about the state of the world, please join us!

What's on offer?
* Support! Tools & community to support you in the child raising journey.
* An invitation to get unstuck! Jo invites those who are raising children to embrace parenting in these difficult times as a form of activism that can contribute to the Great Turning and the healing of our world.
* Practical tools for connecting with younger ones in ways that help us all feel better.
Who is Jo delAmor?
* A seasoned & skilful Work That Reconnects facilitator
* A mother and childcare professional
* Creator of New Paradigm Parenting: frameworks and practices to help parents embrace the challenge of caring for children in these times
* Facilitator of the upcoming workshop series, Parenting in Tumultuous Times
* Author of Raising Children in the Midst of Global Crisis, a refreshingly helpful book on raising little ones during the polycrisis

In the spirit of widest possible accessibility, this event is offered by donation.

We hope to see you Sunday!

With our deepest bows of gratitude to Joanna, our beloved root teacher….

🙏🌀💗🌎💗🌀🙏

(We are being with our hearts right now and will share more words when it is in flow. For now, we offer the words of the WTR Network, to share the news that our falcon has taken flight…..)

Dear friends,

With full hearts, we share that Joanna Macy, our beloved root teacher, mentor, and friend, passed away peacefully at home on July 19th, at 3:56PM Pacific Time.

Over these past weeks, Joanna continued to inspire us through her presence, clarity, and deep love for life. She chose to remain at home, where she was held in love, as she gently let go.

Joanna gave us a profound understanding of the gifts of grief and a vision for resilience. She offered the Spiral and the larger body of the Work That Reconnects not just as a framework, but as a way to move through the world with courage and tenderness. She reminded us, again and again, that the world is alive and we belong to it.

Though her body has left us, her work pulses in every one of us. In every moment of truth-speaking, in every gathering that dares to feel, in every act of sacred activism - we will keep her message alive.

May we carry forward her love of life. May we grieve with open eyes. May we continue the Great Turning she so faithfully named.

The Network is organizing an online gathering to celebrate her life, with the date to be announced soon.

With reverence,

The Work That Reconnects Network Weavers

In these bittersweet moments, as we breathe through and with the final breaths of our elder, our root teacher, our beloved Joanna Macy - may we remember that we too are beloved, that we too have a purpose and a place in the Great Turning. 🐚

Please see our tender message about Joanna’s transition. We will continue to update this page with more offerings and resources for connection. 🙏https://workthatreconnects.org/a-tender-update-about-joanna-macy/

May you find ways to connect with others who are feeling the sorrow and gratitude and all the places in between for all those who are in a place of transition. 🌀

As our teacher and friend, Mutima Imani, posted today…this is for Joanna Macy, for the Earth, for each and all of us…..🙏...
