Are you a teacher?

Have you completed training on ADHD in the last 5 years?

We are looking for volunteers to take part in a research study looking at the characteristics of high quality teacher training on supporting students with ADHD.

This research forms part of an MSc Psychology of Mental Health and Wellbeing at the University of Wolverhampton. It involves answering a short questionnaire and completing a recorded interview in which you will share your experiences with the training you attended.

This study has been approved by the School of Psychology at the University of Wolverhampton and will take place between 29/5/25 and 27/8/25. Please note that data collection will end by the 31st of July 2025.

Your participation in this research is entirely voluntary, anonymous, and confidential and you can withdraw up to the end of data collection without having to give a reason. Completion of the interview should take approximately thirty minutes. We are sorry we can’t offer any payment or rewards.

Still interested?
All participants must:
· Be a practicing teacher
· Have completed training on ADHD in education within the last 5 years
· Teach at least one student with ADHD

If your answer is ‘yes’ to the above questions and you would like to take part, email j.j.cook-williams@wlv.ac.uk for more information.

Thank you!

It's always good for us ADHD people to occasionally audit our alarms and delete the ones that are no longer useful or change the timing of some.

Useful even for non ADHD people, but especially important if you have ADHD, because we're going to have more alarms than most

The danger of too many alarms is that we can get overwhelmed by them & tune all of them out and then they're useless

Question on accessibility in voting for people with ADHD, Learning Disabilities or other neurodivergent people.

Aside from info on assisting voters with physical & sensory issues, any barriers to voting that governments could take action on supporting neurodiverse people in voting?

Does anyone know if any reporters/bloggers/organizations analyzed how well provinces have done on these 18 action steps for LongCovid in Canada by Canada’s Chief Science Officer back in 2022?

Adults and kids with ADHD have huge rates of Covid19 infection, hospitalization and Long Covid (40% of LongCovidKids have ADHD) many studies show.

Do you know about the many studies on ADHD and Covid? Here is a list of some of them I’ve been sending out for a while

Here is a partial list of ADHD and covid studies. Covid can damage your cardiovascular system even if asymptomatic, so IF you don’t wear N95 masks and reduce your risk of getting Covid, you’re at risk of not being able to use ADHD meds, because they boost your heart rate and blood pressure.

And it’s brain damage CV causes, not brain fog, so your ADHD symptoms will get worse.

BC gov has not protected ADHD people by giving guidance to doctors on ADHD and covid19, please ask your MLA to get them to do so AND warn ADHD adults and parents of ADHD kids and teachers and employers. Plus share these studies with your fellow ADHD people.

1. ADHD is a risk factor for Covid19 severe disease, govt of Canada public health website.

The conditions identified below are those for which conclusive evidence is available.
Underlying medical conditions associated with more severe COVID-19 disease”
ADHD is under disabilities, not mental health
https://www.canada.ca/en/public-health/services/diseases/2019-novel-coronavirus-infection/guidance-documents/signs-symptoms-severity.html

2. 68% higher odds (AOR) of adults & kids with ADHD to be infected with Covid if not on ADHD meds

15% lower odds than non ADDers IF they’re taking ADHD meds.

85% of ADHD adults are under/misdiagnosed so no meds so more covid infections:(

Many diagnosed with ADHD do not take meds because they believe the ADHD medication stigma.

4. NO Cdn ADHD data on race.

69% lower odds of US Black kids to get diagnosed with ADHD vs identical White kids.

50% lower odds of Hispanics

46% of other ethnicities

+lower rates of ADHD meds too

No diagnosis = no ADHD meds = 68% more covid infections.

7. Not just MH comorbidities with ADHD

Higher rates of many physical comorbidities for ADHD people

We have higher rates of type one and type two diabetes, smoking, obesity, allergies, asthma, high blood pressure, autoimmune diseases, five times more likely to develop viral pneumonia, four times more likely to have white blood cell disorders, three times more likely to have kidney failure

9. What kinds of non-psychiatric medical problems commonly occur among people with ADHD?

https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S014976342100049X?via%3Dihub

+ higher rates of all 3 eating disorders, fibromyalgia, accidents which often lead to ER visits, alcoholism and drug addiction

8. ADHD had the highest Odds Ratio of Susceptibility to Covid19 of any Mental Health condition, neurological condition, stroke, etc 5.82.

Others were 1.23 to a maximum of 2.65

10. AFAIK NO studies on adults w/ ADHD & Long Covid

Thanks to medical anti ADHD stigma

But IF there were?

Bet we have higher rates of Long Covid too b/c higher rates of infection, worse outcomes, so many covid comorbidities, immune system problems etc

Those of us who work with people with ADHD know that ADDers are often impulsive, forgetful, easily distracted, disorganized, time blind, have trouble planning, and trouble creating and maintaining routines like putting on masks and social distancing which would likely be higher rates of Covid19 for us ADDers, but science has sadly proven it.

If you have ADHD, call or email (not Twitter or Facebook, they won't care) your MLAs, show them these studies and, politely, ask what will they do to protect us ADHD people? Plus share them with others.

If you search Twitter for

ADHD Covid

you will find my tweets on these studies including some of the important charts and graphs in them helping to explain them. People share more visual content.

Thanks

Pete

British Columbians say they feel stigmatized, ignored when seeking ADHD diagnosis

I'm quoted in this CBC BC article on the problems of getting a competent diagnosis for ADHD.

Thanks to the brave two BC women who went public with ADHD to CBC reporter, Michelle Gomez, Andrea Fraser-Winsby, and Samantha Monckton.

That's the most powerful thing you can do to help get more people with ADHD get more competent diagnosis and treatment vs discrimination, stigma and under and misdiagnosis.

Lack of training for doctors

Adult ADHD coach and advocate Pete Quily, who is based in Vancouver, says the issue stems from a lack of training for medical practitioners.

"If you are an adult with [ADHD], you have to assume your doctor, and sadly sometimes your psychiatrist and psychologist, are not properly trained on [ADHD] until proven otherwise," said Quily.

Quily says he has heard many stories from clients about being ignored or dismissed by doctors. Particularly, he has heard of many doctors asserting that patients can't have the condition because they do well in school or work.

"People with [ADHD] are so stigmatized they will very rarely complain … about what a nightmare it is to get a diagnosis," said Quily.

He says all doctors in B.C. should have mandatory continuing education courses on how to diagnose and treat ADHD.

Andrea Fraser-Winsby, a Vancouver-based woman, was told by her doctor she did not have ADHD and was advised to use a planner to stay organized.
