For Gage Wildasin, registered nurse, growing into his career at WellSpan Gettysburg Hospital after his summer nurse externship has been a seamless transition.

“Having received a warm welcome to WellSpan Gettysburg Hospital during the externship made me want to pursue my nursing career with this organization. During the externship, I have seen the opportunities for growth here at WellSpan, whether it be continuing my education or obtaining extra qualifications to further my role. Excellent preceptors during my externship helped me begin to build the foundations of a good nurse. This culture and continued support did not change once I became a graduate nurse, as I continued to receive endless support from preceptors and peers,” shared Gage.

For Colleen and Sean, maintaining an active lifestyle has always been important – but retirement has made health a vital part of their day-to-day.

The pair keeps busy – with some part-time work for Colleen, heavy volunteer engagement for both and hobbies that include everything from disc golf and cycling, to pickleball and traveling.

The Umbenhouers participate in Winter STREAK as a way to spend valuable time together, in addition to remaining consistent with their healthy diet and lifestyle.

Exciting steps forward at the future WellSpan Newberry Hospital!

We reached another construction milestone last week — accepting the keys to the hospital from the Pure Project Management team. This means we are one step closer to unlocking the doors to the building and welcoming the community into a space thoughtfully designed for our patients, with a team ready to serve Newberry and beyond.

Receiving the keys were Dan Hernandez, market CEO, and Dr. Nicholas Bertoni, medical director. This is the first of the three new hospitals we're opening, with WellSpan Newberry Hospital slated to welcome patients in March 2026.

Patient care aligns exceptional clinical care with compassion, teamwork and heart. 💙

At WellSpan Evangelical Community Hospital, Chaplain Carol Price and nurse Callie Kleinman went above and beyond to support a family saying goodbye to a loved one. When the family wished to preserve the patient’s fingerprints as a keepsake, Carol and Callie helped create a detailed hand mold capturing every line – even a small imperfection that brought the patient’s wife to tears.

We’re celebrating Tom Brant, who recently reached 200 blood donations at WellSpan Apple Hill Blood Donor Center!

That’s 200 pints – enough blood to fill almost two standard bathtubs and potentially help up to 600 patients.

Tom has been giving since July 1984, inspired by the welcoming care he’s received from WellSpan team members over the years and his dedication to helping others.

“My intent is to contribute and donate for as long as I physically can,” shared Tom.
