Ok, this is a bit of a creepy photo, but if you keep reading you might understand the subtleties of why I chose it. I just read an interesting article in the Harvard Business Review Press by Rob Cross about the importance of relationship.

Key points for me:
1. “People whose work is mundane or demanding are just as likely to feel satisfied and fulfilled as those with fun or inspiring jobs if they proactively invest in relationships that nourish them and create a sense of purpose.”

2. “It is essential to invest in meaningful relationships outside of work. Our research has repeatedly shown that people who thrive are anchored in at least one or two non work communities.”

Something to take with you on this Monday morning😀

Human beings are built for change and transformation. We are very adaptable creatures. We are also quite proficient at creating barriers to change, because being comfortable with things as they are, even if not ideal, can feel pretty good. So then how do we consciously put in sustained effort to make changes in our lives that help us reach our bigger vision for how we want to be living?

1. It’s all about tapping into that vision and getting a clear picture of what that looks like for YOU. Why do you want to be healthy? What will getting healthier allow you to do, or be? Why is it important to have more energy? Where do you find meaning and purpose in your life?
2. Build a support system to help you make the changes you’re wanting to make. Who is that support system? Friends? Family? Community? If you don’t have one, how can you cultivate that for yourself?
3. Work with me as your coach! A coach is an important piece of the support network, helping to keep you on track, helping you connect to your life vision, and working with you to create goals that get you closer and closer to that vision. In short, I help you turn those things in your life that are 😫into things in your life that are 🥳.

Just finished my 401st workout with . Kaiju is super proud of me, as you can see. My first class was in 2020 and I have been loving exercising ever since. It was a game changer for me and for my health, to have a wide variety of workout options so easily accessible at any time I can fit it into my schedule. I have long stretches of staying consistent with my workouts, but I’m human and fall out of habit especially when I go out of town, am under the weather, or just feel lazy😜But it’s so easy to hop back in and get back at it with their shorter 10 minute workouts which are PERFECT for both rebuilding a habit, or creating a brand new habit. So grateful I stumbled into this and grateful for for being my #1 favorite instructor. I have loved every class and instructor I’ve taken a class with, to be honest.

Happy New Year! I love the beauty of the melting ice on the surface of this creek. The creek runs across a trail where I take my dog for a walk a few times a week, and it’s beautiful to watch how she changes over the course of the year. Some days she’s rushing with abundant waters, vibrant and singing loud and strong. Other times she’s completely dry and I grow concerned over the lack of rainfall. I don’t often see her frozen, but the recent winter storm brought below freezing temperatures. Over the years of visiting her, this cycle of transformation and change is helpful to remember as I move through the course of my own life. Nothing is constant. Change is always happening. We have to work and struggle really hard to keep things the same, and are unsuccessful because life doesn’t work that way! That’s the nature of this world we live in. How can we learn to embrace change? How can we recognize those things in our lives that could use some beneficial change? Like old patterns, habits, and beliefs that keep us stuck. Suffering occurs when we get stuck in those stubbornly resistant places while the natural energy of transformation is pushing us forward anyway. While it may feel challenging to allow ourselves to move with that change energy, you will find there’s actually greater ease and freedom in letting go of that resistance! It makes this journey so much more joyful and interesting 🙏🥰
If you’re interested in transforming those stuck places into something vibrant and engaging with the natural flow of life, contact me! I offer health, wellness and life coaching sessions to all humans!

Every day there’s something to be grateful for! This is how we keep going even when it feels like everything is in opposition to whatever we’re trying to be, do or bring forth in this world. Be true to who you are, respect yourself and others who are also trying to avoid being swallowed alive by monsters. 👹💐

What are some ways to create more balance and well-being in your life?
1- Look at challenges from a different viewpoint than you’re used to. Be curious about what the challenge could be showing you about some aspect of your life or situation.
2- Take a moment to look outside, or better yet, be outside and be still. Take a breath, and just be with all that is in that moment.
3- Find acceptance for whatever you and your life looks like right now. You don’t have to be happy about it and love it, but can you accept the reality of it? Accept even grief, anger, fear? Acceptance can help us move from feeling helpless to feeling courage, giving us the strength we need to keep moving forward.
4- Be grateful for something you may typically take for granted- the warmth of the sun on your skin, the rain falling that nourishes and feeds the earth so that we too may be fed. Here’s one I think about a lot- I feel grateful for having the ability and access to wearing eyeglasses so I can see the world around me clearly. These ‘good’ little things are big things too. Remembering these can be helpful when the ‘tough/bad’ things are feeling too big to handle. ❤️

Whew, it’s been a minute since I posted. Hi again! So much has happened since I last posted. We had a wonderful Spring Weather ceremony at Stone Mountain, petitioning for beneficial weather for the growing season ahead. Catching covid, which I’m still recovering from. I’ve had two weeks of doing not much but resting, and I’ve had a lot of time to process and dream into what I would like to bring forth in my coaching practice. I’m planning on offering a group series on building relationship with the natural world. I believe this is an important piece of connecting to how we move in the world and what true health and well-being is all about. The more we feel we are connected to the world we live in, we can start to more deeply understand that taking good care of ourselves is related to how we care for each other and our plant and animal friends. I’m the wise words of Thich Nhat Hanh- “Keeping your body healthy is an expression of gratitude to the whole cosmos- the trees, the clouds, everything.” Let me know if this is something you’d be interested in exploring with me!

What a glorious site to see all this water flowing here! This little stream runs across a trail I frequently hike and most of the time it is dry, or only a small trickle of water. I was filled with joy at the abundance of water and filled with gratitude for the recent rains we had. When we give gratitude for what we receive, we build relationship. How can we build relationship with the natural world- the weather beings, the sun, the trees, plants, animals…? We start with creating awareness. Notice them! Then give gratitude for their presence. Pay attention to how the world responds to these simple acts.
Try it! See what happens.❤️

Words seem so inadequate to illustrate the depth of grief and gratitude that I hold in my heart and want to express. There is no one outpouring of words that could encapsulate the full breadth of what Eliot has meant to me, and will always mean to me. He saved my life through Plant Spirit Medicine. I was hopeless, I hated this world, felt so alone, so different. I did not feel connected to anything, not people, not nature, nada. My massage therapist was also a Plant Spirit medicine healer and, sensing I needed more help than a massage, suggested I try Plant Spirit Medicine. So I did. And my heart cracked open after that very first treatment. I left her house with eyes, heart, my whole being wide open and I felt the plants, the trees all waving to me. I felt immense joy and aliveness like I had never felt before. And that was just the beginning. Since then I have come to know Eliot as teacher, healer, guide, mentor. Even those words ring empty and colorless when just looked at as descriptors, but the stories behind how he came to be all those things to me are full of life, joy, connection, meaning, purpose, growth, transformation, grief, anger, respect, humility, learning, and most of all GRATITUDE. Thank you Eliot for teaching me how to live in this world, walk on a path in a good way, and what it means to live a life of devotion to being in service to the gods and your people. May our collective tears carry you home. You are beloved.

My sweet girl, Kaiju, enjoying a good nap. She’s a corgi/jack Russell terrier/chihuahua mix, so she works hard all day alerting me to squirrels, cars driving by, wind, birds, unseen dangers far off in the distance…It makes me happy when she takes time off to get the right amount of sleep that doggos need. Oh, the importance of good, restful sleep to keep us healthy and resourced! I know she’ll wake up refreshed and ready to report for duty.
Makes me think about how I approach my to-do list which feels never ending these days. How do I lay it aside and accept I can’t do all the things all the time? How do I invite spaciousness back into my life so I don’t always feel overwhelmed by all the things needing my attention? Good questions to keep asking myself. I learn, then I forget, then I learn again. Isn’t that true for most things?

I could sit and watch the sun glimmering like diamonds on the river’s surface all day. Feeling the wind move across me, hearing the voice of Grandmother Ocean. A blessed moment of feeling alive. Every moment is precious.

A key component to our health and well-being is managing stress. It’s super helpful to have a toolkit of things that relieve stress and one of my favorites in my kit is reading. I love reading in the morning and at night before I go to bed. It’s part of my morning ritual to have my daily matcha and read. I usually have a fiction and a non- fiction going at the same time, so it depends on my mood which one I’ll be reading.I’m grateful to have these moments in my day, and grateful for the abundance of amazing books to choose from. 🤓

Hello there. I’m Linda Azar, certified Functional Medicine Health Coach, and National Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach. I help individuals cultivate balance in mind, body, and spirit to feel empowered on their journey to vibrant health. I’m starting a little IG gratitude journal today. Times have been a little tough lately and I keep getting reminders to slow down, invite spaciousness into my life and feel the beauty of the world. Not guaranteeing I’ll do it every day, but hopefully most days I’ll share a snapshot of the things that stand out to me and say, “hey! This is amazing! Be grateful for this thing.”
So day 1, I carved out a few minutes of my day to lay on the earth in the sun (one of my FAVORITE things to do). Connecting with the sky and seeing these beautiful skeletal trees that look like hands to me. Reaching up, connecting earth and sky. A reminder of the cycles of life and death and the endless possibilities of renewal and rebirth. Change and transformation. Breathing that in, allowing myself to accept that more and more with every breath. 💕

As a health and wellness coach I stay away from foods that are inflammatory and unhealthy, like potato chips and that sort of thing. I am also human, and sometimes I want some of these things I don’t normally eat. So I let myself! I just have to be mindful about it, and remember to not let myself slip back into old habits that weren’t great for me. By ‘not great for me’ I mean make me feel like crap physically. On this occasion of letting myself indulge, I had just returned home from spending time around a fire in my local community. I was feeling nourished by that time spent listening and sharing stories, connecting to heart. I was also feeling snacky. What a beautiful surprise to pull out this chip from the bag! 🤣❤️ Since I’m sharing naturally occurring hearts on food pics, the second one is from Valentines Day (seriously!) 2015 when I was eating grilled cheese sandwiches on the regular. It was a crappy Valentine’s Day for all the reasons you could imagine a Valentine’s Day being crappy, but I was still feelin the love from somewhere!
