There are several ways to take oils internally; you can cook with the oils, take them in beverages, or put them in a veggie capsule to swallow. Using oils internally is a method that is best used only when you have a specific area of concern that can only be met by ingesting the essential oil. Keep in mind that you only need a drop or two at a time to reap the benefits of the oil. A couple of years ago, doterra came out with its Emotional aromatherapy oils. That's kind of a mouthful, but they are just the six oils Motivate, Peace, Console, Forgive, Passion and Cheer. Each essential oil has a different chemical makeup that makes it perfect for whatever the title is! The oils were designed to be used aromatically. So, some great ways to use them is in the diffuser, or as a perfume. Here's some great reading on the science and specific uses! Enjoy!

Well its back to school this week! Not everyone is going back to classes, but for those of you that are, is your kid decorating their locker, putting all kinds of crazy stuff in there? One of my daughter's friends has a mini disco ball…. one not so crazy thing to try is an air freshener spray. And this spray’s use is not limited to the locker! Use this in sports bags, drawers, anywhere that stinks really! The baking soda in the recipe absorbs smells without actually affecting the scent of the spray at all. Mix a tablespoon of baking soda and a couple drops of your favorite essential together in an 8-12 ounce spray bottle. Add water, shake it, and you’re done! A stink-free locker is that easy!

It’s easy for your fur baby to get stressed out.😢🐶 Too many people, thunder, loud noises, and fireworks are just a couple of the scary things in this world. It is tempting to use the same essential oils that calm you down on them, but not all oils are for dogs. Lavender though, is a great oil for your puppies! A dog rescue center diffused a combination of lavender and chamomile, and found that the dogs barked significantly less, and rested more. This is your best bet for calming a dog down. But, you could also put a couple drops of lavender on your hand and rub the dog down with it or dilute it in a spray and mist his or her bedding. Lavender not only will calm down the dog but acts as a flea repellent too! Of course, make sure that the amount of lavender you use is proportional to your pet's size. 3 or 4 drops is safe for a 50- or 60-pound dog, you can scale from there. Watch your pet too when you give it to them, and make sure that they don’t start acting funny. If they do, definitely stop using it. When used correctly though, Lavender is a great, natural way to calm down your dog! Comment if you have some more good info!

Let's continue last week's question, what is your best oil miracle story??

Those of you with bad seasonal threats know what time of year is coming up… Even though it hasn’t gotten really bad yet, ragw**d season is going to start soon. Ragw**d is a w**d that grows all over the United States, and each plant produces up to 1 billion pollen grains in a season. Unfortunately, about 75% of people become sneezy, wheezy, or itchy because of the pollen grains and they sadly have a tough couple of weeks ahead. We already have to hold in sneezes and coughs in public... It’ll be rough with pollen in the air as well. Here's a couple tips to keep the seasonal threats at bay:
Doterra has produced a lot of essential oil products to battle symptoms like sneezes, coughs and watery eyes. All of the Breathe products work really well. TriEase is also a great option, especially if you dislike the taste or smell of Breathe.
One final thing my family likes to use is 2 drops each of peppermint, lavender, and lemon in a shot glass with some water. We drink it and swish it around for a couple seconds in our mouth and the swallow. If It’s too strong, dilute it with some more water! Hope these will help you a little battle the sneezes and watery eyes! Have a good week!

The great thing about summer is that you can be outside without freezing. This post was inspired by a post I saw last week. Campouts, barbecues, and dinner on the porch are all really fun, but if you forget bug spray….. you’ll be itchy for a week. When I researched what caused mosquito bites to be so itchy, I found out that when the female bites you they trade out some of their spit for your blood (how is that fair;)?). Generally, we humans are allergic to the proteins in the saliva, and our bodies react with that telltale itchy, red bump. Fortunately, there's an oil for that ;). Both lavender and helichrysum are good for soothing mosquito bites. You can either rub it directly on the bites or put it into a roller bottle. Just don’t scratch it to much or you could get scars. Try these oils! Comment if you have any other helpful hints!!

Hey oilers! How's your week going?? I love to pull my laundry out of the dryer smelling fresh and clean. But, did you know how many chemicals are in the scented detergent at the store? 1.4 Dioxane is found in almost all scented detergents, yet studies show that this chemical causes kidney problems, liver problems, lung damage, irritation, and tumors. And that’s just one of the chemicals! I have found that this will work just as well, with no risk of a tumor. Get a couple dryer balls. If you don’t have any, use a washcloth or something like that, then just drop a few drops of an essential oil on the dryer ball or washcloth and throw it in the dryer with the rest of your clothes. Any oil will work, but for a fresh, clean smell I recommend Purify or Citrus Bloom. If you don’t like either of those, almost any citrusy oil will smell good! Hope these little hints will help you freshen laundry without any of the nasty chemicals!! Comment if this is helpful!
