Veterans Day honors all who have served in the United States Armed Forces, both living and deceased, acknowledging their sacrifice, courage, and dedication to the country. The holiday is a day to thank living veterans for their service, while its origins lie in "Armistice Day," which commemorated the end of World War I on November 11, 1918.

Thank you to all who have served and continue to serve.

November is Native American Heritage Month.

It is a time to celebrate the traditions, languages and stories of Native American, Alaska Native, Native Hawaiian, and affiliated Island communities, and ensure their rich histories and contributions continue to thrive with each passing generation. This November and every month, we celebrate the culture and heritage of these remarkable Americans who deeply enrich the quality and character of our Nation. We celebrate Indian Country with its remarkable diversity of American Indian and Alaska Native cultures and peoples while remembering and honoring our veterans who have sacrificed so much to defend our Nation.

Indigenous Peoples' Day, also called First Peoples' Day or Native American Day, celebrates the history, culture, resilience, and sovereignty of Native peoples, while also acknowledging the ongoing impacts of colonialism and discrimination. It serves as an alternative to Columbus Day, honoring the strength and contributions of Indigenous communities in the United States and across the Americas.

October is LGBTQIA+ History Month.

We celebrate LGBTQIA+ History Month every October to commemorate the first March on Washington for Le***an and Gay Rights in 1979, including National Coming Out Day (October 11) and Pronouns Day (October 16).

While topics like transgender athletes participating in sports and using chosen pronouns may seem relatively new to some of us, there has never been a world in which LGBTQIA+ people have not existed. Throughout history and around the world, communities have recognized, revered, and welcomed people with diverse sexual orientations, gender identities, and gender expressions.

STAFF APPRECIATION WEEK!

CARNIVAL DAY! Our last day of the week was filled with cotton candy, sno cones, tie dye, games (pie in the face, anyone?), hot dogs, chips, and wheel of fortune! We also had karaoke so we could sing our hearts out while celebrating each other.

Our staff works extremely hard each day. They don't do it because of the pay; they do it because of who we serve--youth and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
