"[Children] ... don’t sweat as well, and they don’t cool off as quickly," said Dr. Malik Muhammad Anwar, pediatric hospitalist at Essentia Health.

"And especially, a lot of kids can’t tell you that they are overheating, and that ends up being a disaster.”

Doctors say a child’s body heats up three to five times faster than an adult’s, making hot cars especially dangerous in summer.

Blitzes will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, July 28, through Friday, Aug. 1, at the Essentia Health-South University Clinic and the Essentia-The Lights West Fargo Clinic.
