🔥How to embrace your inner goddess🔥

Utkatakonasana or Goddess pose, also known as ‘horse stance’ is a REAL marmite pose...you either love it or you hate it!

While that activation of the lower body might make your legs wobble like a big old plate of jelly, try closing the eyes as you breathe into it, stabilise the legs so they are strong and grounded, engage the muscles in your back and allow your mind to feel more confident and powerful.

When we combine a physically powerful posture with body language that enhances feelings of power, we stumble across an asana that could really make an impact upon the mind and body. The Sanskrit name Utkatakonasana actually translates as ‘powerful’ or ‘fierce’ angle pose, need I say more? 💪

💛How To Practice Loving-kindness💛
•••Take a moment to yourself in a quiet place and sit comfortably.
•••Close your eyes, take three lovely, deep breaths and bring to mind someone you love unconditionally.
•••Mentally recite the following words (or choose your own 🙂): ‘May you be happy. May you be safe. May you live a peaceful and healthy life.’
•••Take a moment to realise how it feels to really experience these feelings of loving-kindness towards this person and bask in these warm feelings as you realise your gratitude and love for them.
•••When you feel ready, turn your attention towards yourself and see how it feels to say the same words: ‘May I be happy. May I be safe. May I live a peaceful and healthy life.’
•••Allow yourself to enjoy this little moment of self-compassion and positivity.
•••Take three deep breaths in through the nose, sighing out through the mouth before opening your eyes to return to your day.
•••Know that you can revisit these feelings anytime during your day for a miniature moment of positivity.

🙏 This week is all about the heart space, focussing on the anahata chakra and its job to help us cultivate compassion, kindness and love towards ourselves and others. If you are a visual person, imagine a glowing green light at the centre of your chest.
~
Deep heart breathing // 💚
~ Place your hands on your heart, one on top of the other and close your eyes.
~ Notice the breath as it expands into your chest and lungs and imagine your heart expanding as well.
~ Inhale joy, kindness and compassion deep into your heart; exhale these feelings out into the world.
~ Stay here for at least 10 breaths, recite this optional mantra:
I am loved, I am worthy of love. 💕

To celebrate, here are just 5 reasons why yoga is great:

1. Everyone loves a good stretch; stretching your body helps relieve any physical tension.
2. Say goodbye to stress: The relief of physical tension also soothes any mental or emotional stress, helping you to feel lovely and relaxed.
3. Just breathe. Yoga allows you to connect with your breathing and learn how to breathe deeper and in sync with your movement.
4. Get zen - The connection with your breath leads to a calmer, more peaceful state of mind.
5. Z’s please: Savasana (relaxation) and Pranayama (controlling the breath) provide downtime for the nervous system, and a regular yoga practice has been proven to help you sleep better.
