I’M LOCKING IN & TAKING CONTROL 💪🔒

I’ve been needing a challenge and accountability — so I’m committing to my Freedom to Flex Program and the 1st Phorm Transformation Challenge… and I want YOU doing it with me 👯‍♀️

I wish I took this advice seriously when I first started my journey. Protein really is KEY for the results we’re after.

Want to lose fat? Protein is essential for that.
Want to build muscle? Protein is essential for that.

Hitting a protein target consistently is challenging for most people and if youre serious about your results, you’ll make the necessary adjustments to your diet to make sure you’re hitting your numbers no matter what.

I personally love 1st Phorms protein powders to give me that extra boost of protein so that I’m not eating chicken all day 😂

Phases in your fitness journey ↓

Despite the obvious weight gain, this post is to bring attention to the different phases in your fitness journey and how to truly embrace AND enjoy all seasons.

There’s going to be seasons where your focus is fat loss. Sacrifices will need to be made, you’ll have to be more diligent with your nutrition, and you’ll gain that gratification from seeing yourself getting leaner and receiving compliments from other people.

There’s going to be seasons where your focus is elsewhere. It could be health, your career, being more present with friends/family, etc. You’re not as diligent with your nutrition, you’re enjoying life more, and the scale will probably go up. This doesn’t mean you “failed” or “let yourself go”… your focus is just elsewhere.

Both of these seasons are a choice. And none is better than the other.

So how do we enjoy the journey without getting caught up in the “result”?

We make it a lifestyle.

Fitness is for life. Not just a fat loss phase. And from years of competing, I can tell you..the joy lies in the journey of getting better and challenging yourself with new goals. The byproduct are the results.

My advice? Focus on habits. Habits that will stick with you through every season. Focus on the big 4: protein, calories, water, movement.

👉🏽Protein: 1g/lb goal body weight. This will help preserve muscle and keep you satiated.
👉🏽Calories: Focus on the quality of the food you put into your body. You might not need to track every little thing year round, but treat yourself with respect and practice the 80/20 rule.
👉🏽Water: Best thing I did was stopped drinking my calories. Drinking more water means youre more likely to pull back on the mindless snacking. Hydrate.
👉🏽Movement: Get off the couch. Move your body for at least 30 min - 1 hr a day. You have the time. Dont pretend you dont.

The results kept coming when I stopped focusing on how long it would take and started enjoying the process.

I used to be the girl that would start a diet or training program and quit when I didn’t see results fast enough…only to jump to the next fad diet or “fat blasting challenge”

I was so focused on just getting to my goals already that I never stopped to enjoy the journey.

Girls, the journey really is the best part.

The daily grind
The hard work
The hours spent investing in YOURSELF

The truth is that the joy felt from instant gratification never lasts long…

but the feeling of accomplishment when you reach a goal you worked your ass off for? That’s for life.

My best advice to you is to focus less on “how long will this take” and more on “no matter how long it takes I WILL get to my goals because I won’t ever quit on myself again”

You deserve to see what cna happen when you go all in and stay committed to your goals

20 lb difference in these photos 😮 Let’s talk about weight gain and how it’s not always a bad thing!

On the left—I had just won my pro card the weekend before I took this picture (hence the tan) and I was starting my reverse diet to bring myself back to a healthy maintenance point. At this point I was really happy with the way I looked, super confident in my skin but had a very hard time mentally detaching from being so lean all the time. Competing back to back for 3 years made me forget what I normally looked like which is definitely not 114lbs lol. I had to work through body image issues and detach my value from my appearance and focused a lot on inner work.

On the right—This is my body today. And if you would have told me just 1 year ago that I would feel happy 20lbs heavier I wouldn’t have believed it. But it’s true! I’m currently the heaviest I’ve ever been but my goals are different. My goals right now are not to be the smallest version of myself. I’m working on building MF muscle and committing to the growing process even if I feel uncomfy some days. Why? Because this part is necessary.

I’m a seasoned lifter
I’ve been doing this whole “fitness thing” for over a decade
I’m a bikini athlete working towards making some MF noise at my pro debut next year

Gaining weight needs to happen for growth to happen. And for once in my life, I’m ok with it.

So the takeaway here—being the smallest version of you will not always translate to feeling the happiest. I was fu**in drained and lifeless at my lowest weight even though I got praised daily for the shreds. I feel powerful and strong at this weight and the gains are making its way. So here’s to embracing the bulk and committing to the process. Laser focused 🫡🫡🫡
