in love with the batch brew here💜

Simple and unassuming, it's easy to walk right past at first glance. Their menu epitomises the simple no frills beauty of Japanese cuisine. The batch brew here is undoubtedly the best coffee I've had in Melbourne (including milky brews and specialty coffees), due to the complex fruity flavours that linger on the pallette without feeling heavy. I savoured every last sip and cannot wait to go back.

As for the warabi mochi, although it listed as sold out on their online menu, was actually available upon requesting at the counter. Soft yet chewy, nutty but just sweet enough - this is a dessert that is great to share but probably would be too much and lead to flavour fatigue for one.

Overall, no regrets on lining up on a cold weekend morning for this cafe experience- would highly recommend requesting to be seated at the counter in their back room if ordering the ochazuke (next on my list to try!) since you can see them preparing the broth.

weekend matcha date at 💚

We ordered:
- Hot matcha latte: this is now my favourite hot matcha in Melbourne, beating ! very smooth and creamy with a strong matcha taste and vibrant colour attesting to the premium quality of matcha used.
- Iced matcha: also recommended, smooth and not super sweet
- Matcha white chocolate cookie: crispy exterior and chewy interior with a subtle matcha flavour that works well with the chocolate. I recommend asking them to warm it up.
- Matcha basque cheesecake: a bit pricey but worth it for the unique experience and many components that you get. The actual cake isn't matcha flavoured but the matcha sauce and crumble compliment the cheese flavour perfectly

If you're in Southeast Melbourne, brunch at is a must try! It's rare to find an aesthetic spot in this area, but they've absolutely nailed it with the beautifully plated dishes and cosy interior with a sunny courtyard😍 They also had one of the best service experiences that I've ever had tbh

Their menu has a mix of classic and modern brunch dishes, with healthy and more indulgent options. I tried:
🦀 Craboulade with rosti: the crab cakes were perfectly cooked and a great match with the runny poached eggs. The potato rosti was soooo crispy and my favourite item there- would highly recommend adding it on to your dish!
🩷 Pink dragon smoothie: the combination of raspberry and dragon fruit is so refreshing and the chia seeds add a great textural element
☕ Mocha: tasty but not strong enough for me personally🥲

Now that the weather is warming up, I have been craving yogurt bowls non stop, and this combination of toppings is my go to🙌🏼 I love adding warm cinnamon apples to yogurt since the hot and cold contrast works so well- the extra few minutes are definitely worth it! The syrup from the apples acts as the perfect natural sweetener too.

🥣:
- greek yoghurt
- diced red apple cooked with some cinnamon and a bit of water until soft
- banana
- pumpkin seeds
- raisins
- walnuts
