I am a qualified dietician and working with children is my passion. I specialize in counseling people on the health aspects of their life. I have a long list of parents who come to me regarding the health of their young kids. I personally believe that the right kind of dietary habits need to be inculcated at a very young age as this helps the younger generation to think in the right perspective an
d this changes their life forever. Children are like sponges ready to soak in whatever comes in their way and they have a great capacity to assimilate new ideas and teachings. They are like clay that can be molded in any shape. Habits and behavior adopted in childhood remains unchanged even in adulthood. It is indeed the right age when health education should be imparted to them. Food is the integral part of our life. Lack of proper nutrition can lead to many physical defects such as poor sight, bad posture and poor digestive system. Problems pertaining to weight are a major issue in today’s world as the kids are exposed to more of calorie dense food. When kids don’t get the right kind of balanced diet various nutritional deficiencies result. Such inadequacies lead to problems in adulthood. Nutrition and Health education helps the child to attain healthy habits and attitudes. It helps them to remain focused and also gives them a strong base for the rest of their life as LIFE IS FOR LIVING. Without health, life is deprived of not only much of its usefulness but also of its joys and pleasures. Health cannot be achieved merely by taking one or two pills everyday nor can it be achieved by observing a few restrictions. It can be achieved only by understanding what health is, how different nutrients help us and also how their perfect combination increases the nutritional value of a meal, and then applying this knowledge of health in every-day life. The care of the body regarding food, cleanliness, exercise, rest and protection against disease, are essential for the preservation of sound health. This is possible only through health education which develops a healthy and scientific attitude towards health.
