Homegrown 🌱

If you’ve been following along with my stories recently you will have seen me participate in the war on slugs 🐌

I asked you all for your best advice, tips, and tricks when it comes to removing them from the garden, from garlic sprays to bramble fortresses 🌱

You won’t believe what managed to work the best and managed to “trap” 24 of them…hint: it wasn’t the beer houses

I’ll be posting the results soon!

But until then here are some courgettes they didn’t manage to get and some 3am bone broth from the incredibly kind and sound staff

Sneak peak of this weeks theme below 👀⬇️

As someone who’s spent a lot of time in the past using different services, therapies, and protocols and as a practitioner now, I can understand and empathise that these things aren’t always accessible to you all the time

I set up journal club for a sense of community, sustainability, and as a weekly practice to check in with ourselves 💜

I also set it up as a free way of checking in with yourself in the comfort of your own home 🏡

I believe that alongside valid services and healthcare there should additionally be free spaces created that you feel you get something out of 🧘‍♀️

Whether it’s 10 mins to yourself, a feeling of belonging, of letting go, of consciously checking in with yourself, of dreaming, planning, motivating yourself, whatever it may be…🌱

I’m offering Journal Club every Monday both live and on my stories. This weeks theme is:

As this year draws to a close I’m reflecting on the crow 🪶

The crow can hold different meaning for everyone

For many, it symbolises the messenger between two worlds 🪽

What is calling you and what you are leaving behind

It can be seen as a symbol of adaptability, transformation, destiny, wisdom, and foresight 🌀

In Celtic mythology the crow is seen as the messenger between gods and hero’s. The goddess of war was thought to take on the form of a crow (Badhbh/Badb)

Personally, this year marked quite a heavy one for me

And despite all my personal successes, I can’t help but feel the heaviness that overshadowed it

This year brought with it many sudden abrupt changes, shocks, scares, and an eerie level of uncertainty for many

I’m still trying to unravel it all and in the last few days have been comforted by the presence of crows

They can serve as reminders in tough times to stand up for yourself, what you believe in, and who you are, whilst also teaching us to observe, listen, and take a step back when we need to ⛰️

This step back can serve us in moving forward and so long as we keep going we will come out the other side ⛅️

I’m aware what a privilege it is to get to reflect on this year at all, in light of what is currently happening in the world

For anyone looking for a symbol of hope, comfort, and guidance during transitionary periods or times of uncertainty/hardship the crow reminds us to call on others when needed and retreat when is necessary, but to always keep going 🤍

An experience is a beautiful gift, made all the better by knowing you’re directly supporting someone (and often times their family who help run the show behind the scenes) ♥️

Each of these women are extremely skilled in their craft and are a constant pillar of support both personally, and in the community 🤍

For many, the last few years have brought with it unforeseen obstacles and hurdles. It’s been especially tough on small businesses

This week was very special for a lot of reasons ✨

I started my journey with Applied Biomagnetic Therapy almost 10 years ago

I came to Raymond when I was 17 and out of options regards my own health situation

I felt very lost, alone, and scared as my health declined rapidly with very little answers or guidance as to where to go

From the moment I met him my life changed for the better and after two years of intensive treatments I was in a much better place

Once I regained my health I decided to study under him and was part of the first class of practitioners he taught this therapy to

5 years on and I have just completed my continuous professional development in 500 hours of Applied Biomagnetic Therapy

This brought with it a deeper understanding and compassion for the root cause of illness, the inter generational aspects of our trauma, our cellular functioning + habits and so much more!

I also got to meet so many incredible people who traveled from all over the world to do this and I feel very grateful to have met faces, old and new and feel very cared for and supported in this environment

I’m very fortunate to have come across this therapy and even more so that I get to practice it with my clients now

Looking forward to all the future brings and that’s about enough of the sappy post 😅🥰

I will be speaking about my approach to treating the symptoms with regards to Biomagnetic therapy and how this can be a useful and powerful tool in building the foundation of your health

The endocrine system and burnout 🧨🎇
The endocrine system is like a beautiful lil motorway of messengers

It comprises of internal glands that release hormones in to the bloodstream and regulates the amounts that are released and where they go

Some of the endocrine hormones assist in controlling mood, development, metabolism, sleep, etc…

Where does biomagnetics come in?

Typically I work with hormonal and glandular function early on in sessions to ensure that the body is not overwhelmed and burned out to begin with but that it is also eliminating and detoxing successfully

This involves placing magnets on points such as the pineal (often involved in sleep and mood regulation), or the thyroid (often involved in metabolism regulation). This helps rebalance the natural magnetic fields of these areas and promote healthy blood flow and optimal function within the gland

There are factors such as stress, diet, and chemical exposure and tolerance that can affect the endocrine system

When we make adjustments to our lifestyles it can ease up the potential toxic overload on this little motorway so that it can efficiently do its job and typically we start to see a change in our health at a foundational level

Some of the things people first notice after doing a Biomagnetic hormonal and glandular balance is the shift in energy, weight, appetite, and cravings. A change in skin appearance and reduction/disappearance of hormonal acne and period symptoms/pain

That’s not to say it’s a cure all. It’s also important to be conscious of what you’re consuming

Many products such as commercial cleaners are known to have endocrine disrupting chemicals in them

You can nip and tweak at what you consume without becoming consumed by it. I’ll be doing a post soon on what products I’ve switched to and cleaning alternatives I find useful that don’t irritate me

Save this for the next time you’re feeling stressed out ⭐️

The same way we feel our stress is how we release it ⬇️⬇️

We carry stress in our bodies so it’s hard to outthink it

I’ve found that a combination of things helps best especially if you have low stress tolerance:

- Rationalisation - feeling where in your body the stress is, linking it to what’s causing the stress and seeing if you can break the problem down in to small achievable steps to resolve it. Give yourself a rough window to resolve this as even knowing when the stress will be over helps bring clarity and focus

- Movement - Shaking it out
Because we feel stress so intensely it’s important to consider your hormones. Adrenaline + cortisol overloads can quickly lead to burnout. A way to help regulate + release is quite literally: shaking. A good example of this are animals running from predators and shaking off once they’re safe - the excess adrenaline that is produced in fight or flight helps to get you through a pinch but once you’re safe/have stopped you need to release excess adrenaline. Shaking, rocking, jumping, and dancing can all help relieve this and regulate those hormones somewhat

- Talking - talking it out with friends/family/professionals helps ease stress and brings awareness to if you are headed towards burnout

- Balancing - Joy with routine
We need a healthy amount of fun and joy to keep ourselves in check and our stress levels down. Finding time to do this can be tricky so the key is small bursts throughout the day + practising gratitude daily to help shift general focus towards a more positive view

Most importantly:

🎉- Celebrate -🎉

We can get caught in a cycle of stress, burnout, and fatigue if we don’t celebrate the milestones because then nothing breaks up the stress we experienced to get to that place.
So celebrate birthdays, milestones, graduations, friends, pets, new opportunities, the end of significant events, everything!

Important to note, if you are struggling to cope with these things reach out to someone. This Social media space is intended as a safe educational space that can help aid support but not replace it 💛

Here’s a follow up to the question:
Do you think you have a good balance when it comes to screen time?

86% of you voted that you’d like it to be better

So here are some things I find helpful:

- setting time limits (ex. Not looking at work stuff before 9am or after 6pm)

- Timing 15 min breaks to get up and stretch and move your neck

- Not looking at a screen while eating. Allowing yourself a little break to focus on what’s in front of you and help ground you

- Noticing how you feel away from a screen and in front of one. This awareness slowly helps us to separate and compartmentalise stress + our emotions

Remember screen time has increased for most of us in recent years so it’s important to be kind to yourself and gently check in whenever you remember and try practice outsourcing your screen

For example: using cookbooks rather than looking up recipes or asking someone for advice rather than googling

Practising this helps to bring more connection + grounding to our very busy lives 🤍

In Applied Biomagnetic Therapy (ABT) this is usually indicative of a microbial imbalance or trauma (although it can be other)

A few things I’ve worked with recently as a Biomagnetic therapist:

(These can all tie in to each other or be separate stand alone symptoms by themselves)

But typically symptoms like these are painting a much bigger picture of what is going on on a microbial level especially in the gut

A good example would be a gut bacterial imbalance which can in some cases contribute towards low stomach acid, sluggish digestion, and in turn fatigue

If the body is not easily able to efficiently digest, absorb, and assimilate nutrients due to a gut imbalance (or other) then it can work overtime trying to do so, often resulting in fatigue, nausea, reflux, cramping, gas, food sensitivities, etc...

Stomach points in Biomagnetic therapy are effective in alleviating pain and discomfort and encouraging homeostasis within the digestive tract

I have recently finished up with one client who is happy to no longer be experiencing reflux and am currently treating another for intense nausea. Hopefully I’ll have an update soon!

The Spinal Belt

At the start of each session the body needs to be balanced. It is common that at the start of sessions there is leg length discrepancy (LLD) which I mentioned a few posts back ⏮

LLD can usually mean that there’s trauma that the body has experienced and is holding on to ex. a sports injury

To rebalance this we use pairs of magnets on the upper heart ventricles and sacrum, the parietal and kidney, and if the LLD still hasn’t rebalanced them we do what is known as the spinal belt

This is a sequence of magnets starting at the top of the spine and ending at the bottom around the sacrum

This succession of negative to positive magnets along the spine has been described by clients as:

“Restorative”
“Deeply healing and releasing”
“Aligning and transformative”
“Helped to realign and bring me in tune”
“Not only relaxing but freed up a lot of years old pain I didn’t think was possible”

The National Botanic Gardens are only a 10 min drive from The Holistic Therapy Centre in Santry

They are accessible with pay by the hour parking, wide flat footpaths, access by bus, and have plenty of open spaces 🤍

If you’re travelling far for an appointment with me this is a lovely spot to check out the scenery and all the squirrels 🐿

It’s been a long and weaving path for Shannon the last few years and a lot of hard work. It’s also been one of the greatest joys for me to assist her with getting her health back 🌻

Leg Length Discrepancy (LLD)

Whilst it varies in degrees of length from person to person many people can have leg length discrepancy where one leg is shorter than the other

This can be an indicator of a variety of problems including back pain, postural issues, co-ordination issues or “clumsiness”, amongst many others

With Biomagnetics the right leg usually contracts when there is an imbalance present in the body. In some cases it can lengthen which is known as a “Biomagnetic reversal”

Some clients that come to me are aware of their LLD as it has been pointed out by doctors, physios, chiropractors, etc...

The lovely shoes in this pic are used in this therapy to discern slighter discrepancies and for hygiene purposes...if anyone can design me nicer ones I’d appreciate it...😅
