Cultivating Generosity, an Herbal Soul Development series.

Chamomile Soul Ritual:
“The Soft Unraveling”

Theme: Letting go with grace. Returning to gentleness as power.

What You’ll Need:
• A cup of chamomile tea (loose or bagged, ideally made with intention)
• A quiet space with low light
• Optional: journal, candle, warm blanket, or chamomile-infused oil

Step 1: Create the Space
• Light a candle if you like.
• Sit comfortably with your tea. Take a few breaths.
• Hold the cup in your hands and say aloud or inwardly:
“I am here. I am safe. I am allowed to soften.”

Step 2: Sip + Listen
• Take a slow sip of the tea.
• As you drink, ask chamomile (aloud or inwardly):
“What part of me is tired from holding on?”
• Sit in stillness for a few moments. Let the question float, without needing an answer.

Step 3: Gentle Unraveling

Place your hands on your heart or belly and speak softly:
• “I give myself permission to let go of what’s not mine.”
• “I soften where I’ve been hard. I release where I’ve been clenched.”
• “I trust that I can be gentle and still be strong.”

Breathe into any part of your body that feels tight. Imagine the chamomile working like sunlight or warm water — dissolving tension, unwinding stress.

Step 4: Integration
• Journal, if you like, with the prompt:
“What does softness allow me to feel that I’ve been avoiding?”
• Or simply sit for a few minutes in quiet.

Step 5: Closing

Thank the plant. Blow out the candle or rub a little chamomile oil onto your wrists or temples.

Speak a closing affirmation:
“I carry calm with me. I carry grace in my bones.”

It’s season!

As the plant energy turns to its roots, gathering root medicine is the harvest of the season.

Like the plants, our own energy moves to our roots as we prepare for the darker days and colder nights.

How much these plants are willing to share in their wisdom, reflection, spirit and medicine!

I’ve always said that we (practitioners) are not healers, that’s the body’s job.

But oftentimes we forget that as Human Beings, we are part of Nature.

Rather than thinking we need to “get out in Nature,” maybe we can remember that we are Nature and Nature is Us. If we don’t feel that, then there is the perfect place to begin the Holistic path.

Allowing the body to be its own “physician” by facilitating the introductions it may need to its innate Wild Nature.
