Back with a bang! Been on a health kick, but slipped a few parmos in there so got some coming up!

We decided to hit up Mr Chips in Southbank again after a while and try out their Pork Parmo.

We got a full pork parmo served with chippy chips, salad and garlic. This parmo looked superb and we couldnt wait to dig in. The pork was cooked to perfection, full of flavour and tasted very fresh. This was topped with a amazing amount of creamy bech sauce, finally topped with a good covering of well grilled cheddar.

This came served with chippy chips which is always a brilliant option. Fresh salad and a nice tasty garlic.

Overall we were very happy with this parmo, its nice to know the chicken and the pork parmos are both delicious from one place.

Recently we took to Facebook to check out a place we keep hearing things about. Pop’s Kitchen is not your typical takeaway, its based in someone’s house. They only sell chicken or pork parmos and burgers. The photos look great. We are 100% planning on trying both parmos. This time we decided to try the chicken.

We tried their regular chicken Parmo which came served with homemade chips, salad and garlic. We were very happy with the size of the parmo, alot of places this would be a large. Also the chips looked unreal.

Unfortunately the chicken was butterflied very uneven, one half was around 1cm thick moving over the other side and being closer to 3/4 of an inch thick. This gave very different tastes throughout the parmo, the really thin side had little flavour, whereas the thicker side had a lot. We could taste the freshness in the thick side tho which is good, if the whole parmo was like this then we would have whole different review. This parmo was then topped with fairly thick but good tasting bech, by now you know how we like it. Finally covered with a good quality well grilled cheese.

The salad was probably the freshest we’ve had from a takeaway.

The chips were homemade and cooked lovely, crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, these were top notch.

Overall we were happy with this, although we feel this has room for improvement. A few little changes this parmo can be a fantastic.

Recently we took a trip to a little village called Hartburn in Stockton. We landed at The Masham, from the outside this looks like a lovely little pub sat between houses, once inside it opens up more and looks brilliant inside.

This place has a one size parmo and was priced at £13.95 when you see a parmo with that price tag straight away you think this has got to be decent! Either that or day light robbery.

Upon arrival we were very happy with how the parmo was presented, it looked great, salad looked crisp and fresh and the chips looked phenomenal, we were happy with the size of this parmo. Garlic dip came served in a separate pot.

The chicken was beat to a very good thickness, tasting fresh and flavoursome. This was then topped with a good amount of great tasting creamy bech sauce. Finally covered with a quality well grilled cheese.

The chips were homemade and cooked to perfection, crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside.

Overall we were very happy with this, one of the best parmos we’ve had in a long time. And we were happy with value for money!

Recently we went to The Ship at the bottom of the bank in Saltburn. I got to the till with every expectation of ordering a regular Parmo but the guy behind the bar swayed me by saying it’s only an extra £2 odd for a full oh that’s what I ended up with, Guy should be on commission haha.

Upon arrival we were happy with the size of this parmo. This came served with home made chips, fresh salad and garlic dip.

The chicken was beat to a good thickness and tasted fresh with a good amount of flavour. This was then topped with a good tasting slightly thick bech sauce. Finally covered with a good amount of well grilled cheese.

Overall we were quite happy with this, good solid parmo.

Been trying to be abit healthy lately, thats where we’ve been incase you wondered. But we had to try out Byland road chippy in Skelton.

Chippy’s for me are always in the top echelon for parmos. We ordered a small parmo which came with chips, salad and garlic and priced at £8.

Because i wasn’t planning on actually reviewing a parmo at the time i left me ‘kit’ at home 😂 so i had no utensils so had to ask if they had a plastic fork i could use, they had no knives so they cut it up into squares for me.

Upon opening the box we were very happy with the size of this small parmo. This was the size of alot of places full parmos! And it looked great.

The chicken was beat to a great thickness and tasted very flavourful and fresh. This was then topped with a lovely tasting creamy bech sauce. Finally covered with a good amount of a decent quality cheese, melted ideally. And obviously with chippy chips this combo was great. Good quality garlic sauce too.

Overall we were really quite happy with this parmo.

A couple nights ago we decided to try La Gustoso in Redcar, from what we’ve seen/heard this is supposed to be restaurant quality food delivered to your door, so we were excited to try it out. Upon opening the box we had mixed feelings, the parmo looked good but the chips looked far to over done. Nevertheless we dug in.

This parmo came served with chips salad and Garlic dip this is a one size parmo and was priced at £8.50

The chicken was cooked good, was beat to a decent thickness hut lacked some flavour. This was then topped with a very thick and cheesy bech sauce very over powering in taste. Finally coated with a good amount of cheese.

Overall we were fairly disappointed with our parmo and think it could be improved with some simple changes.

Side note, chips were sub par also.

Recently we went camping for the weekend and thought we’d hit up a parmo place if we could find one, in and around Ripon. We landed at Kirkby Fisheries, with it being a chippy we had higher than usual hopes.

We ordered a few things including 2 full parmos and one half. These parmos were shockingly small for the fulls! All made with a light cheese to which just looks wrong. These were priced at £5.50 for a half and £7.50 for full (all being roughly the same size also)

The chicken was cooked alright, nothing flash and didnt really have alot of flavour. This was then topped woth minimal amounts of bech, some parts had a little some parts had none, poor form. And finally coated with a good amount of. White cheese which is wrong on a parmo and just changes the complexity and taste of what a parmo should be.

Side note, all the other food we got was actually really really tasty but as per, anywhere outside of Teesside cant make parmos.

Overall we were disappointed with our parmo and think it could be drastically improved with a few little changes.

Recently we decided to go back to Avatar’s Golden Fry in Middlesbrough, if you saw our post yesterday you’ll know we heard they had one of the best parmo chefs about. So we had to find out. We got a full chicken parmo, chippy chips! (You know) salad, large chilli and large garlic.

This parmo was absolutely huge! Took uo the entire box not an inch of space wasted, everything else came separate. Just at first glance we were excited to dig in.

That first cut, when it just slides through like a knife through warm butter 🤤 the chicken was cooked flawlessly. Could tell it was fresh and full of flavour. This was then topped with a great amount of a creamy tasteful Bech sauce and finally covered with a heap of perfectly grilled good quality cheddar.

Side note as always, we are of the opinion that chippy chips are always the better choice and these were no different, top class with this parmo. Garlic is usually always the same but a really good chilli is hard to find. This was absolutely dancing 🕺🏼

Overall we were very pleased with our parmo and think this time was levels above last time we visited. Said parmo chef always knocks it out the park to be honest, everywhere ive been hes worked its been pure top notch.

Little addition, this place has had a full refit and looks brilliant inside and out.

Can you guess where we are tonight? Rumour has it, one of the best parmo chefs in the buisness is working there now. I saw him whilst I waited. So lets see if he’s still got it.

Recently we decided to go back to Kilimanjaro’s in Hartlepool and try out there mighty parmo and see what that was all about. This was priced at £29 and came served with a portion of chicken wings, salad and any 3 sides we chose. And of course a choice of any 3 parmos.

We opted for chips, sweet potato fries and jollof rice. And our parmo selection we had to try their signature jerk parmo, the gold standard original parmo and finally a funghi parmo.

The chicken was beat to a great thickness on each parmo and so full of flavour, tasting very fresh. These were topped with creamy flavoursome bech. And finally topped with a good quality well grilled cheddar. Each parmo had lashings of their Kilimanjaro sauce over them which added so much taste to the parmos, each parmo was unbelievable but my personal favourite was the jerk topping. This was absolutely phenomenal, just the right amount of spice to give off a fantastic twist.

Overall we were super happy we were the mighty parmo. We think this would actually be a great food challenge, and more than happy to have a talk with the guys at Kilimanjaro’s about our idea 😏.

Recently we decided to geas to boro and have a sit down parmo instead of a takeaway. We landed at Uno Momento on Linthorpe Road. This parmo came out well presented and looking easy on the eye. This parmo was on the 2 courses for £12 menu.

The chicken was a good thickness and full of flavour, tasting very fresh. This was then topped with a slightly thick but still good bech sauce, finally this was covered with a layer of good quality cheese. This chips on this were fresh home cut chips which is along with chippy chips. Always the best options.

Overall we felt quite good about this parmo. A solid tasteful dish and for a restaurant, great value. Could eat this parmo all the time and be happy.

Good parmo, has great potential.

Today we went looking for a day time parmo but didnt fancy a pub or restaurant so we were delighted to find a takeaway open at dinner time! So we landed at Amigos in Middlesbrough. This was priced at £6.80 with a tub of garlic.

Upon opening the box we saw the dreaded circle parmo 😨😱 and if you read our reviews before you know how we feel about them.

The chicken was beat quite thin and didn’t taste fresh whatsoever, this was topped with very little bech but what was there was quite stodgy. And finally this was coated with her cheap quite greasy cheese.

The one good thing about this was the garlic was actually quite tasty. Sadly nothing else was.

Overall we were quite disappointed with this parmo.

Last night we decided to try and check out a place people have recommended alot of times. We landed at Mr Chips in Southbank, I had been to this place in the past with an old page so we excited to go back.

This Parmo Was priced at £7 with a tub of garlic, and Came served with chippy chips and a choice of salad. If you’ve read my reviews before you know im all for chippy chips with a parmo and these were no exception, top draw 🤤.

The chicken on this parmo was was beat to the perfect thickness, cooked superbly and full of flavour. This was then topped with one of the best and most creamy bech sauces we’ve ever had, absolutely flawless bech. Finally this was covered with a decent amount of well grilled good quality cheese.

Overall we were delighted with the parmo, and would highly recommend it if you’re in the market for one of the best parmos about.

This is one to beat. wow.

Yesterday we did a collab with and tried out BLD’s based at Redcar Rugby Club. We got a large parmo which came served with chips, salad and garlic.

This parmo came presented lovely. The chips looked unbelievable, they came covered in chip salt, which is always a good addition.

The chicken was cooked faultless, thick flavoursome and very fresh. This was topped with a tasty bech sauce for us really the only downside with the parmo was the bech was slightly to thick for us and it just needed spreading more as towards the edges it was lacking abit, however the flavour was there. Finally this was covered with a good amount of a good quality well grilled cheddar.

Side note again. The chips were absolutely unreal. Thick chunky chips with chip salt once again 100% better than standard takeaway chips.

Overall we were really pleased with the parmo, and would highly recommend it.

We spoke to the owner and he wasn’t pleased with how the parmos turned out as we happened to come just as they hit peak times and also just had a massive disruption from their new food hub machine crashing. So he’s asked if we would do a re review once everywhere is back open, we’ve agreed to go back in a few weeks.
