Jen: For my cross training I've decided to start using the rowing machine. Today I did 5 minutes on the lowest setting.. you've got to start somewhere though, right? I'm determined to keep it up and will try to row 3 times a week, hopefully being on a harder setting and managing 15 minutes at a time by Christmas.

The rain held off just long enough for us to do some hill sprints. After some excellent run lessons from over summer we were very conscious of our form. Thinking about our feet, knees, bum and arms all at once wasn't easy but kept our mind off the cold. 🌧️

Really fun run with the crowd last night. If you live in North Manchester and want a safe, friendly and inclusive group to walk or run with then come down next Tuesday. It's non competitive, supportive and totally free!

Jen: Two very different machines for us tonight. In our training plan we're also squeezing in one non running fitness activity which Erin does at the gym. I've not decided on mine for this week yet but have spent my evening swooning over my new craft toy. Thanks to who suggested it. Crafting can be incredibly good for your mental well-being so I'm looking forward to getting back into it.

We've had a few weeks away but are now back and really excited to be running again after a few injuries have kept us grounded. Winter is our favorite season for running long distance because we don't get too hot but we'll need to make sure we have plenty of lights and high vis to stay safe. We have written an improver plan to see us up to our half marathon in January and we'd love for you to use it too. Whether you've just completed the C25K, regularly running 10ks or are just after a plan to get you out more we'd love to hear how you get on with it. We will post the plan weekly along with tips and tricks we pick up along the way. ❄️🏃🏼‍♀️🏃🏼‍♀️☺️🎉

Celebrating with double chocolate donuts after our run today. Looking forward to many more as our training continues. Perhaps a yum-yum next week? 🍩🍪

A picture from last night. Jen: I've recently been prescribed some medication to help combat anxiety. An annoying side effect is jaw clenching. In the first few days it was bad enough to give me a headache and make me feel nauseous. I considered stopping but after a couple of days it eased off. I no longer get the headaches but the clenching means I've started to grind my teeth in my sleep. So, now I rock a mouth guard to bed. 😬

WORLD MENTAL HEALTH DAY 2019

How are you? How do you feel? Do you feel valued? Do you know you're important in people's lives? Do you know your worth and have confidence in your ability to deal with tomorrow? Do you need anything? Do you know which friend you can talk to? Do you know which of your friends might need to talk to you? Have you checked in with them recently?

When one of you loves hill sprints and the other doesn't.. 😠😃

Super excited to be back half marathon training again though. Lots of long dark runs ahead of us, fartleks in the snow, wet muddy trail runs and icy hill sprints. To you this might sound awful but for us it's the promise of hours of chatting, hours of a clearer headspace, hours of feeling proud cause we're out there and hours of the natural high excercise gives. 🎉🏃🏼‍♀️

Argh! Yesterday was amazing!! We've cofounded a running group that heads out every Tuesday and the people who come, the support everyone gives each other and the smiles on faces after leave us buzzing for days. Yesterday was which meant we all slowed our pace and focused on chatting rather than distane or time. The aim was to encourage people to talk about mental health, and in particular break the stigma around men and mental health. We had cakes after and a big giveaway. We'll share some of the stuff from our groups Instagram page this week so you guys get the messages too. However, if you ever fancy joining us for a run on a Tuesday night in Whitefield it's 7pm from Hamilton Road Park. Follow the instagram it page for more info.

Between period pain, aching feet and Bank Holiday Blues running was not something we fancied tonight. Staying in and watching TV would have made those blues worse though so we grabbed the dog and just went for a walk about Bury. It was so good to get some fresh air and have a proper catch up. You might not feel like it, but if you're in a mood and you've been in all day just go out and walk for a bit. Listen to a podcast, playlist or just look at your surroundings. Walk out with nowhere to go, set yourself a time and when it's up turn around and head back. Bet you'll feel a little bit better.
