The stage is set, the lights are dimmed, and the stories are poised to unfold.

The 𝐂𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐌𝐄𝐃𝐥𝐚𝐲𝐚 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒 film showing event is finally in full swing with the masters of ceremony, 𝐌𝐬. 𝐌𝐲𝐫𝐚𝐛𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐞 𝐋𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐳 and 𝐌𝐫. 𝐉𝐚𝐜𝐨𝐛 𝐑𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐦𝐚, at the helm of the program.

Once again, the DRTREF College of Medicine Batch Epione 2027 students would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all these esteemed individuals who made time despite their busy schedules. Tuberculosis remains one of the most persistent infectious diseases worldwide, posing significant challenges to public health systems and communities alike. Caused by the Mycobacterium tuberculosis, TB primarily targets the lungs (𝐛𝐚𝐠𝐚) but can also affect other parts of the body. It transmits through the air when an infected person sneezes, coughs, or talks, which makes it extremely contagious. Symptoms include persistent cough that lasts more than two weeks, coughing up blood, chest pain, fever, chills, night sweats, and unintentional weight loss.

Despite advancements in diagnosis and treatment, challenges such as drug resistance and social stigma persist. Early detection through screening programs, the development of efficient vaccines, and boosting access to treatment are all part of the fight against tuberculosis. Additionally, raising awareness about TB's symptoms, prevention methods, and the importance of completing treatment is crucial in reducing its impact and ultimately achieving its eradication.

Present in our everyday environment are imperceptible creatures called 𝐦𝐢𝐜𝐫𝐨𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐦𝐬. They are responsible for causing infections, and in turn, the spread between individuals.

The steps by which an infection is transmitted pertain to the 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐢𝐧𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧. This said process has six links namely the: (1) infectious agent/microorganism, (2) reservoir, (3) portal of exit, (4) mode of transmission, (5) portal of entry, and (6) susceptible host. In layman’s terms, 𝐦𝐢𝐜𝐫𝐨𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐦𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐞𝐱𝐢𝐬𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐚𝐛𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐛𝐞 𝐩𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐜𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐦𝐨𝐝𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐨 𝐚𝐧𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐡𝐨𝐬𝐭. According to the World Health Organization, approximately 𝟮𝟳𝟬 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲, constituting around 5.5% of the global population aged 15-64, have 𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗽𝘀𝘆𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗱𝗿𝘂𝗴𝘀, with an estimated 35 million individuals affected by drug use disorders, leading to about 𝟬.𝟱 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗱𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗵𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗻𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 attributed to drug use.
