There’s a name for the place that’s neither work nor home, yet essential to both. It’s the café where you exhale between errands. The park bench you retreat to when your mind needs clarity. The wild sauna by the woods that becomes your weeknight/weekend ritual.
Sociologists call it a “third space.” And here in Bristol, at SiVo Wellness, that idea takes form through heat, cold, connection and coffee.

You leave your shoes at the door and the noise of the world stays with them. Inside, things move differently. The sauna is built, Finnish in style, pared back in spirit. The heat here isn’t intense; it wraps, it soothes, it holds. Your shoulders soften. Time loosens.
Around you, others sit quietly. Not strangers, not quite friends. Kinfolk, maybe. People who’ve also chosen to pause. You breathe together, without performance. No one is on their phone. No one is anywhere else. You are here, together, but also alone, in the best way.

Anyone noticed that it’s getting darker earlier? We have, and honestly, we’ve missed it! There’s just something about cosy nights in the wellness garden with the festoon lights on, friends close, nature louder in the stillness. Now don’t get us wrong, we’re very here for sunny bank holiday vibes but those magical dark evenings? A whole different kind of mood.

We had the pleasure of hosting an Aufguss training session led by the talented team, who brought a wealth of experience, energy, and insight to the group.
From technique to tradition, it was an inspiring deep dive into the world of Aufguss and has left us excited to explore how we can bring more of this experience to our regular schedule.

Sometimes the most powerful tools are the simplest.

The neon reminder at Sivo, Inhale. Exhale.

Your breath is your anchor, your reset button, your nervous system’s best friend. Just 30 seconds of intentional breathing can shift you from stress to calm by activating your parasympathetic nervous system significantly lowering cortisol.

Try this: inhale for 4, hold for 4, exhale for 6. Do it for a few rounds, do you feel that shift?

THE POWER OF THE BREATH

The moment your skin touches the ice, your body screams. It’s pure, a wild panic, an alarm bell ringing through your nervous system. Your breath wants to run away from you, to come in short, frantic gasps. But the truth is, your breath is your anchor.

Deep, slow inhales tell your brain that I’m safe here. Exhales release the shock, and soften the resistance. It’s not about fighting the cold but about meeting it with a calm, steady presence. The breath is the bridge between chaos and control, between survival and surrender.

We had the pleasure of welcoming Bristol City Academ for a tailored recovery experience designed specifically around their performance needs.

The session included yoga which focused on fundamental movement patterns, contrast therapy through sauna and ice baths to demonstrate the benefits of thermal stress, and down regulation breathwork to support nervous system balance, sleep, and overall recovery.

We also highlighted the importance of mental recovery, that sometimes it can be as simple as taking time out in nature. A comprehensive approach to recovery, both physical and mental.
