National Youth Leader Workshop on AMR - Phase II: From Youth to Communities
The Youth Against AMR - Phase II: From Youth to Communities campaign successfully convened the National Youth Leader Workshop on AMR at the World Health Organization Nepal in Kathmandu on 16 October 2025, bringing together youth leaders from over 24 youth organizations, networks, and clubs, with around 60 participants joining both in-person and virtually.
The event was graced by Prof. Arunkumar Govindakarnavar, who delivered the opening remarks, highlighting the importance of youth engagement in addressing Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) through a One Health lens.
Usha Tandukar maam from QSRD/MoHP led an insightful session on Nepal’s National Action Plan on AMR (NAP-AMR), emphasizing current national priorities, coordination mechanisms, and opportunities for youth-led action in support of the plan.
Dr. Sh*tal Adhikari facilitated an engaging discussion on the Red Line Antibiotic Policy - From Policy to Practice, focusing on responsible antibiotic dispensing, the role of pharmacies, and how youth can contribute to compliance and awareness campaigns.
Dr. Saugat, WHO Nepal, joined the session to share remarks on strengthening cross-sector collaboration and the crucial role of youth in amplifying community-level AMR initiatives.
