NHS Grampian Public Health In public health, we aim to help everyone in Grampian to stay healthy for longer. Check when your GP practice or pharmacy is open.

To do this, we work with people, communities and partners across Grampian, promoting good health and wellbeing and preventing illness
Posts are monitored Mon โ€“ Fri 9am-5pm. In Public Health, we aim to help everyone in Grampian to stay healthy for longer. To do this, we work with people, communities and partners across the North East of Scotland, promoting good health and wellbeing and preventing illness. We are working to deliver change by tackling issues that are challenging people to stay well. Preventing illness and reducing harms to health are critical in protecting our health and social care services for years to come. Our areas of work include:
-supporting people to manage with the rising cost of living,
-preventing infectious diseases,
-minimising the impact of climate change and the effect on the places we live and
-working with our communities and partners to design health and care services that balance enabling wellness with treating illness

We want to reduce differences in people's experience of health and care so that everyone in Grampian can have good health and wellbeing regardless of where they live. You can find more information about public health and the work we do in our latest Director of Public Health Report, https://www.nhsgrampian.org/your-health/director-of-public-health-annual-report/

For general health information you can access the NHS Grampian Healthpoint services which offers free and confidential health advice from trained staff on a wide range of topics such as:

Today is โ€“ a time to unite in the fight against HIV, show support for people living with HIV, and remember those weโ€™ve lost.
This yearโ€™s theme is โ€œOvercoming disruption, transforming the AIDS responseโ€, reminding us that ending AIDS by 2030 is possible if we act with urgency, unity, and commitment.

Did you know?

HIV is now a manageable condition with the right treatment.
Free PrEP (pre-exposure prophylaxis) and PEP (post-exposure prophylaxis) are available in Grampian to help prevent HIV transmission.

Regular testing is key โ€“ especially if you have new or casual partners.

The campaign is underway (25 Nov โ€“ 10 Dec), calling for an end to gender-based violence. ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿงก

Experiencing violence can cause significant trauma, both physically and mentally, as well as cause an economic and educational impact.

Equally Safe is The Scottish Government and COSLA's national strategy to prevent violence against women and girls and challenge the attitudes and systems that allow it to continue.

One of the key aims is ensuring the voices of women, children and young people with lived experience shape policy and practice โ€“ building a trauma-informed approach.

Most children and young people are given the flu vaccine as a nasal spray into each nostril. Itโ€™s quick, easy and painless. Thereโ€™s no need to sniff or inhale the vaccine, itโ€™ll just feel like a tickle in their nose.

"If you come early, then you'll have more treatment options available to you."

Hear from Consultant Head and Neck Surgeon Jenny Montgomery as she shares why it is so important to visit your GP practice as soon as you notice any unusual, persistent symptoms such as a neck lump or a hoarse voice.

A recent survey found, 42% of people in Scotland would take days, weeks and even months to contact their GP if they had a persistent hoarse voice.
