Make a difference this March!

March is UCA’s Day of Giving, and it’s the perfect time to highlight a cause that’s changing lives — the I-TAP program and the Michael David Hares Memorial Fund.

I-TAP enriches the lives of older adults living with cognitive decline through engaging therapeutic activities. This program provides social connection, cognitive stimulation, and meaningful engagement for individuals who need it most.

The Michael Hares Memorial Fund honors the legacy of Michael David Hares, a beloved I-TAP alumnus whose passion for learning and joyful spirit reflected everything this program stands for. By donating, you help keep these vital services thriving and continue making a positive impact on the lives of older adults and their caregivers.

Every gift matters. Every dollar counts. Let’s come together and support this beautiful mission.

Are you a caregiver for a person with dementia? We offer a support group for those who care for loved ones with dementia. Our first support group is Wednesday, September the 11th from 5:30 to 7:00pm.

We will offer a complimentary dinner as well as some information for caregivers that we hope can help them to navigate the challenges of caring for a loved one with dementia. In addition, as caring for our loved ones can present significant challenges, we always make time for sharing experiences and supporting one another.

We are located at 2200 Bruce Street in the Interprofessional Teaching Center on the backside of the Integrated Health Sciences Building. We hope to see you there!

The College of Health and Behavioral Sciences Interprofessional Therapeutic Activity Program (I-TAP) has been awarded a $166,762 grant from the Alzheimer’s Association Center for Dementia Respite Innovation (CDRI) to enhance the quality and availability of dementia-specific respite care for people living with dementia and their caregivers in Central Arkansas.

UCA I-TAP is one of 21 recipients chosen to receive grant funding from nearly 200 applicants across the country. Funds will be used to support I-TAP programming at UCA and also to expand the programming to other universities in Arkansas.

We give our sincere thanks to the Alzheimer's Association for their support.
