We received many noteworthy and inspirational nominations for the Erin Knoepfel Education Award this year, and were impressed with the amazing and dedicated SLPS who are providing exceptional care to their clients each and every day. We would like to recognize our two finalists: Britney Miller and Travis Duvier.
Britney was recognized and nominated by a co-worker because of her outstanding commitment to her patients as well as being an advocate for them. Britney is described as a passionate SLP who supports her patients and the facility to the best of her ability. Britney provides unique and patient centered treatments and creates tools to support educating the skilled nursing staff. She is committed to learning best practices in the field, and she seeks CEU opportunities to support this endeavor.
Travis was nominated for the Erin Knoepfel Education Award by an Occupational Therapist in his facility. Travis utilizes his creativity and simulates “real world” situations to challenge his patients to use their skills in role play situations. Travis has set up a mock grocery store where he encouraged patients to make purchases, manage money, and use learned strategies in a functional way.Travis shares his knowledge and expertise with the interprofessional team, including other therapists, nurses and CNAs, and has become a certified dementia practitioner. He is described as a kind and patient and is a true asset to his team.
Congratulations!
