Friends of the Children-Colorado Springs creates generational change by empowering the most vulnerable children in our community. This is accomplished through long-term, one-to-one mentoring by dedicated professional mentors that begins when a child is age 4 to 6 and continues for 12+ years, no matter what.

This improves their physical and mental wellbeing, supports their academic success, and develops their social-emotional and like skills to help them break through intergenerational cycles of poverty.

Our team came together last week for an incredible mock Suture Clinic — a time filled with hands-on learning, collaboration, and plenty of fun! Our team members go to experience a taste of the surgeon's life during this team building exercise. 💉🧵

This week, we were thrilled to host our Pre-Health Kickoff Event at Vanguard! Our pre-health team came together to connect, share experiences, and prepare for a year filled with hands-on learning and professional growth.

The kickoff is just one of many opportunities our pre-health staff have to build community while pursuing their long-term medical career goals. Through this program, team members gain valuable clinical experience, engage in workshops like mock interviews and suture clinics, and participate in volunteer efforts both locally and abroad.

🏔️ Climbing Pikes Peak — Together! 🏔️

At Vanguard, we talk a lot about "climbing uphill." It's always easier to coast downhill, but all good things lie uphill. The things that matter don't come easy. It requires resilience and willingness to keep going even when the path is steep and rocky.

Last weekend, some of our incredible teammates put that mindset into action by hiking Pikes Peak! 🌄

🔥 From 2am wake-ups to camping at the trailhead the night before, they took on:
🥾 Barr Trail – 12 miles, 7,600 ft of elevation gain
🥾 Cragg’s Trail – 14 miles, 4,300 ft of elevation gain

It wasn’t easy, but nothing worth doing ever is. The grit, the teamwork, the views — all unforgettable. 💯
