Nix the resolutions 🚫 and do this instead 👇🏼

The Wheel of Life:

❇️ Rate each life area from 0 to 10 (1/2 points okay)

❇️ What are your top 3 areas:

❇️ What are you currently doing that’s nourishing those areas?:

❇️ What are your bottom 3 areas:

❇️ How might you focus more in those areas?

❇️ What will having more attention on those areas do for you? (What could happen? What opportunities could present? What relationships could be built? Etc)

❇️ Are there any resources or support that you need to fully commit and focus in those areas?

❇️ My goal(s) this week/month/day are:

❇️ The actionable steps to reach my goal(s) are:

💯 - take it a step further by considering how you’ll measure progress and your feedback sources.

This is a great way to get started with goal setting!

Come join me on IG live, this Friday 1/6 @ 11am to run through the exercise together!

FREE Communication Style & Awareness Workshop

Learn your communication style:
• Advocating
• Controlling
• Analyzing
• Facilitating

Based on two factors:
1) Power
2) Emotion

These styles are based off the communication styles assessment Perceptive Communications®️.

If you’re interested in taking the full assessment to uncover not only your style but

• Adaptability: ability to meet others’ needs; communicating with others who’s style differs from your own
• Accessibility: “being there” physically, intellectually, and emotionally
• Negotiability: the degree to which you appear consider change

and oral competencies like
• sending and receiving messages…egos tend to get in the way with this one…

We think it’s the receiver’s problem if they didn’t understand what we said instead of taking responsibility for the fact that it may have not been communicated by us effectively…

Want to learn more?
Attend the free workshop next Thursday 12/15 est.

If you need an email template to get the time approved by your boss, DM me and I’ll send you the Google doc (complete with linked research to support your request)

ATTEND THIS FREE WORKSHOP AND GET YOUR 360-FEEDBACK FOR FREE TOOOOO 🎉

Have you been wishing your organization provided leadership and professional development on an individual basis?

Here’s a better way:
⭐️ Attend this free Communication Awareness workshop on Dec. 15th!!

I’m sending an email Monday on how to get this time approved by your boss, but a recording will also be available.

Plus everything you need to know to get the whole 360 Feedback process for FREE - see linktree 🔗

Which ends of the spectrum do you fall on?…

Assertive ⬅️➡️ Receptive

Reserved ⬅️➡️ Responsive

There is no “right way” to be - these characteristics all have pros and cons.

Really, if the ability to fluctuate back and forth on the spectrum to drive more effective communication.

Which means, sticking to our preferred way could be hurting relationships and opportunities.

Next time you’re in conversation, see if you can assess where the other person is on these continuums then make a conscious effort to move closer to them.

Meeting someone’s conversational needs makes it more likely you’ll get what you need or want too!

If we want to continue the paradigm shift happening at work, we have to continue to ask the tough questions (and employers need to be prepared and proud of their answers).

The majority of us care about company culture as a primary determinate in our decision making.

We want to know how you handle performance metrics, ongoing learning and development, opportunities for growth and advancement, the package of offerings outside of formal salary although let’s be honest, value-based pay is where it’s at.

IN THE COMMENTS 💬: What’s most important to you in deciding where to work?! 👇🏼

Raise your hand if your organization has acknowledged the emotional impact of this week’s news 🙋🏻‍♀️

Leaders, check in on your staff in a way completely unconnected to work.

Ask them how they’re doing and if there’s anything you can do to support them then objectivity listen.

You don’t need to have all the solutions or answers but you must be willing to sit, listen and validate.

Not only is it “human”, it makes good business sense.

Job seekers are putting their foot down on CULTure.

You know.

The always on.

The ignoring of personal experiences and societal news.

The pretending we’re operating business as usual.

Sure.

Year 2 of the pandemic and here we are on our 200+ mass shooting of 2022.

Companies that focus on culture are seeing more engagement, retention and innovation.

Support the human working for you ❤️

I’ll just shout into this brick wall over here 🧱😩.

Authentic and self-aware leaders see the importance of a learning culture.

These leaders advocate for the 1) budget and 2) schedule to explore.

Raise your hand if you’ve ever been apart of this 68% (either in a former or current position) 🙋🏻‍♀️

Present observation and explicit conversations with people of multiple perspectives and backgrounds is how we figure out what’s really going on.

Cultures cannot form if shared learning hasn’t taken place.

So whether yours is a learning, psychologically safe culture or a toxic one - y’all learned somethin’.

We just have to figure out what that is - book a 30 min meeting with me (it’s free!!!) and we can chat about it.

How we doin’, fam? We right on track? 😉

Of course we’re not. We make these lofty or murky goals and expect that we’re just going to miraculously change once the clock strikes midnight 🕛.

You are unfortunately too smart for that lol 😆. Your brain has deeply engrained neural networks that react before we can decide.

In order to not only change something, but start or replace it with something, we need to understand what we’re working with.

TRY THIS:
1) What’s the behavior or skill you want to master and how will that impact you personal and those around you?

2) What behaviors do you currently exhibit that sabotage this goal?

Start here and tell me what you come up with 👇🏼. We’ll continue tomorrow with related fears
