Global Eye Project Global Eye Project is a non-profit in affiliation with Bay Eye Charitable Foundation committed to bringing sustainable eye care to under-served regions.

Visit us at www.globaleyeproject.org Our current goal is to establish a permanent eye clinic staffed by Haitians in Fond-des-Blancs, Haiti. We will educate the local population and train the staff. Additionally, volunteer professionals (opticians, optometrists, and ophthalmologists) will visit monthly. A permanent and sustainable eye clinic not only provides desperately needed eye care and awareness of eye health, it will serve to inspire young people to enter the profession.

Many young adults in their early 20s present blind from high pressure glaucoma, preventable infections and trauma regularly. Just this past Thursday, a 28 year old female who is a single parent to a set of twins presented blind in both eyes from glaucoma. She cried knowing she'll never see her kids growing up.

We aim to solve this problem by early community screening and educational initiatives in 2020.

We have 5 babies blind from cataract at our clinic in Fond-des-Blancs, Haiti. This breaks our heart since they are all treatable but the parents don’t have the money.

Can you please help? Even a small donation or sharing this post with your friends helps. Each surgery is $350 including anesthesia. https://globaleyeproject.org/home.html

Today is World Sight Day. It's a day to bring attention to health and wellness of the eyes and vision, and make the international community aware that over 275 MILLION people suffer from visual impairment and preventable blindness, 80% of which can be treated or prevented. Poor vision hinders children from learning in school and individuals from earning a living. It has a negative impact on the individual, families, and communities.

Global Eye Project is privileged to help communities including Fond-des-Blanc, Haiti to improve vision and quality of life. We enjoy serving the global community and bringing quality eye care to all in need.

Join us to strengthen our efforts in ending preventable blindness at: www.globaleyeproject.org.

Dear Friends,

Please support our with your tax-deductible gift in 2016 and restore sight and transform lives. In 2016, Global Eye Project made a significant impact. We restored sight and prevented blindness for thousands in 2016. Many under-privileged people benefited from our effort. Please help us get a good start by making a donation which will help us expand our vision-saving work. Preserving and restoring vision not only transforms that individual but the lives of the loved ones and the entire community. Your support will help us eliminate needless blindness and reach many who otherwise wouldn't have access to this care.

We know that you have many options for your end-of-year giving, and we thank you in advance for choosing Global Eye Project. 100% of your gifts (large or small) will go directly towards making a lasting impact on countless lives by funding our sight saving programs on the ground. You'll be able to claim a tax-deduction in 2016 and we will put your donation to work right away. Begin 2017 knowing you made a difference.

OUR YEAR AT A GLANCE...
-Our teammate, Anshu Chandra, OD lived in Haiti full-time in 2016 as a volunteer optometrist and provided care and training full time, allowing us to make a tremendous impact.

-More than 12,000 free eye exams & 250 eye surgeries for the under-served done

-Thousands of kids, mothers, elderly, & adults received glasses. Students saw the black board for the first time and adults were able to see or read again.

- 6 ophthalmic technicians trained during 2016, strengthening our LOCAL impact

- Blindness caught & prevented for thousands suffering from glaucoma, diabetes, hypertension, and other diseases

- 2 more work stations & advanced equipment added to expand our ability to provide quality care to many more

- Improved clinic structure to protect our equipment & work environment

- Mobile clinics reached those far from our clinic

LOOKING AHEAD TO 2017...
Donations to our year-end campaign are vital for us to build upon the progress we have made. Our goals for 2017:
-Hire a full-time local ophthalmologist to provide continuous eye surgeries & advanced eye care

- Train more local technicians to meet the large need for eye care

- Increase mobile clinic outreach to provide care in more under-served regions to people who otherwise don't have eye care

- Community education campaign: to increase awareness of eye diseases & instill preventative measures
