Mercury goes retrograde today in Capricorn, and will remain through January 8th. Mercury, ruler of all types of communication (listening, speaking, learning, reading, editing, researching, negotiating, buying/selling), also rules all formal contracts and agreements, and important documents (book manuscripts, term papers, agreements, deeds, contracts, wills, leases...). Also included is all types of code (computer code, transportation, shipping, travel).
So, when Mercury goes retrograde, astrologically speaking, it is in a resting/sleeping state, so when Mercury is napping or "offline" the activities it governs do not have it's governing planet to watch over things to ensure stability. If you have Mercury retrograde in your natal, like my husband does, this may be a more energizing period for you, but as always, be aware of your surroundings when traveling, and use extra caution with technology. If you can wait to sign that contract until 1/9, it's preferable, but if not, just know that this will be something that may not be solidified if began during a Mercury Rx. ;) Onwards Cosmic Soul Tribe!
