Great to welcome the Mazenod Panthers All Ability Football Club and other local clubs to Parliament for the FIDA end-of-season gathering.

FIDA does fantastic work supporting players with intellectual disabilities to enjoy footy, build friendships, and be part of their local clubs.

Events like this are a wonderful chance to celebrate community sport and the inclusion it brings.

It’s been a massive fortnight for LGBTIQ+ folk in sport, so today has come at an excellent time. We’re being loud and proud for Wear It Purple Day today. 💜

Wear It Purple Day is all about celebrating and supporting q***r young people. Everyone deserves to feel safe, seen, and valued in every game, every code, everywhere.

With 80% of people in sport having witnessed or experienced homophobia or transphobia, we know this needs to change. Together, one game at a time, we can build a future where everyone can play, belong, and thrive — on and off the field, court, pitch, pool and ground.

Great to meet with the Football Integration Development Association (FIDA - Football Integration Development Association) and their clubs at Parliament House this week! It was fantastic to hear about their vital work providing opportunities for people with intellectual disabilities to play Australian Rules football. An incredible organisation making a real difference in the community.

The final FIDA event of 2025, as the InLife Independent Living Tackle Free Carnival hit's Sunbury on Sunday September 14th, being hosted by Rupertswood Football Netball Club at Salesian College (Sunbury VIC 3429)!

Always a great display of FIDA action, with all clubs encouraged to enter a team and participate! If you'd like to join in on the action, then get in contact with your club today and ask to field a side!

Your club not entering a team? No problem, we have the InLife/FIDA Local Legends side which is made up of players from all different clubs who just want to come down and experience what the Tackle Free Carnival's are all about!

Sunbury Lions Fida and Sunbury Football Netball Club Inc. - Juniors, would like to congratulate our 2025 FIDA teams Vice Captain Georgia Synan on being selected to represent Victoria in the 2025 AFL OPEN Women's Squad. All of us at the Lions are very proud of your achievement.

It was a real honour to win a Highly Commended at the Disability Sport and Recreation 2025 Victorian Disability Sport and Recreation Awards for Sport Initiative or Event of the Year. This was for InLife Independent Living Tackle Free Carnivals. FIDA Board members Peter Fisher, Vice President and Paul House accepted the award on the night.

The second day of our 2025 “A” Grade Premiership Cup Club 500 Sponsors’ Appreciation Tour was to Parliament House, where our local Member of Parliament, Melissa Horne, hosted a FIDA function with fellow MPs. Melissa has been a wonderful advocate for our club, and she was delighted to show off the Cup, with Dave Oakley, Jeremy and Rob.
