October is Pregnancy Loss and Infant Death Awareness Month. Over 1,000 Hoosier families endure the loss of a child to stillbirth or infant death each year. If you or a loved one has endured the heartbreak of loss, the Indiana Department of Health has resources available. Please reach out to IDOHGrief@health.in.gov to get connected.

💜 Calling All Moms Who Have Experienced Perinatal Loss 💜
We are conducting a Lactation After Perinatal Loss Survey and would love your help! Your experiences are invaluable in helping us better understand and support loss moms.
📄 Survey is available in English & Spanish
🕒 Takes only about 5 minutes to complete
🤰 Who can participate: Any mom who has experienced perinatal loss in the last 20 years. While we especially hope to hear from moms who experienced a loss after 16 weeks and before their baby’s first birthday, all moms are welcome.
Please share this survey with your community, support groups, and friends. The more responses we gather, the stronger our understanding and support for loss moms will be.

Big news for Indiana families! Preliminary data from the Indiana Department of Health shows that our state’s infant mortality rate is the lowest it’s been since 1900. 💙

Fetal & Infant Mortality Review (FIMR) teams like ours are part of this progress. By reviewing cases, identifying ways to prevent future losses, and offering community outreach — like our community baby showers — we help create safer, healthier beginnings for babies and families.

We’re committed to continuing our role in this important work. While we acknowledge this milestone, we know there’s more to do — and we’ll keep showing up for the littlest members of our community. 👶👶🏽✨
