🧠🧘‍♀️ Honored to present on Mindfulness and Brain Injury Yoga at this year’s conference with the Brain Injury Association of South Carolina!

It has been an incredible experience sharing evidence-based strategies that promote healing, self-regulation, and quality of life after brain injury. From breathwork to adaptive movement, we explored how mindful practices support neuroplasticity and emotional well-being.

🌟 Grateful to connect with so many professionals, survivors, and advocates and proud to represent Recreate Yourself, LLC as an exhibitor dedicated to transforming lives through recreation.

Let’s keep building a world where everyone has access to healing movement and meaningful engagement.

Updates on Disability Pride Parade:

July is Disability Pride Month – Celebrate with DRNC and RTP Disability Pride! July 26, 3:30 PM-5:30 PM at Duke Memorial United Methodist Church at 504 W. Chapel Hill Street in Durham

IMPORTANT UPDATES!

Due to the forecasted heat index of 110°F on Saturday, the majority of the parade activities—including vendor tables, speakers, art, and refreshments—will be held indoors at Duke Memorial UMC for everyone’s safety and comfort. We recognize that many disabled community members are especially vulnerable to heat, so moving activities inside will help make the event as safe and accessible as possible for all. Tables and chairs will be provided for your organization’s information booth inside the building.

We will have a condensed outdoor parade route and a short dance party outside, but all other activities—including resource tables, speakers, art, and refreshments—will be inside. We encourage everyone who still wants to march to participate in the shortened outdoor parade; however, if you or your group would prefer to remain indoors, you are welcome to skip the outdoor portion.

Parade Instructions

The parade route this year will be much shorter—in keeping with the heat, we’ll walk together to the front of the church and hold a brief dance party outdoors, but main festivities will be inside.

Decorated mobility aids, posters, signs, costumes, and noisemakers are encouraged! No vehicles or floats, please.

We’ll distribute noisemakers and offer accessible options for signage (large banners may not be practical).

If you want to skip the outdoor portion for health or accessibility reasons, you are absolutely welcome to participate only indoors.

Accessibility Features

ASL interpreters for all spoken portions.

Low-sensory room inside Duke Memorial.

Zoom option available for folks who are remote.

Barrier-free, wheelchair/mobility aide accessible outdoor and indoor spaces.

Free masks at the welcome table for anyone who wants one.

If you have other accommodation requests, please let us know in advance or at the welcome table.

Health and Safety

First Aid Station inside Duke Memorial.

Registered nurse and CPR/first aid certified volunteers on site.

Please stay home if you’re sick, have COVID, or are experiencing symptoms.

Durham Bulls Game Tickets: Options and Details
Tickets for the game on Saturday, July 26 can still be obtained from us via electronic transfer if you wish to attend. Please let us know at the welcome table if you’d like to receive tickets for Saturday’s game.

A large group of folks in the disability community are attending the baseball game on August 14th. If you would like to attend the game on August 14th, you can either purchase tickets or we can transfer your tickets to that game.

If you’d like to join an organized group going to the game, let us know! We’re happy to help facilitate meetups for anyone who wants to attend together.

Please note: While individual groups or participants are welcome to go to the game on Saturday if they have tickets, the official Disability Pride Parade is not organizing a group participation at Saturday’s game due to the heat advisory. Our primary gathering is at Duke Memorial UMC for the Pride Parade, with any Bulls game attendance being a separate, optional activity for those who wish to participate.

We hope to see you Saturday!
