I’ll be discussing with Suzanne Theresa Thomas what moral injury is and how it can be prevented, how the emotions that are tied to moral injury can be expressed in a healthy way, how leadership and management teams can protect their veterinary professionals on the floor, and how if left untreated moral injury can contribute negatively to the overall mental health epidemic we are experiencing in the veterinary field. We will also discuss how to continue to advocate for your patients when you feel like your voice is falling on deaf ears.

Kristin Lake, CVT is an Emergency and Critical Care Veterinary Technician with experience since 2003, transitioning from General Practice to specialties like Medical Oncology and Emergency Medicine for domestic and exotic animals. We are excited to have her as one of the speakers for the MVMA Winter Conference!

In 2023, Kristin published The Veterinary Technician's Guide to Emergency and Critical Care and founded VetMedMath.com, offering tutoring and 24/7 medical math consultations. Additionally, she created VetMedRounds for designing inpatient rounding books for veterinary professionals. Kristin was accepted to Harvard Medical School in April 2024 for postgraduate coursework in Effective Writing for Health Care, aiming to publish her research in veterinary journals.
