I was talking with an entrepreneur recently who shared that she feels a lot of pressure to be perfect as a professional. To show up perfectly for her clients, for her website and all of her marketing to be perfect, to present a certain image of herself.

Or else.

Or else she won’t gain new clients. Or else she will lose the clients that she currently has. Or else she won’t be able to provide for her daughter. Or else people will see that she feels like she’s not good enough.

Or else she’s a fraud.

Here’s the thing. In that state of mind, there are only two options. One can either be perfect or be a failure. And if we’re not perfect, then we must be a failure. When we get caught up in that black and white thinking (and no perfection here.. there are times that I still do), there is no room for the beauty and richness of the gray area.

She also shared that she feels a lot of tension in her body. And that she feels stuck. No wonder! Can you feel the weight and rigidity of all that pressure? I sure could, straight through the zoom screen. Her body did. And I’m sure her clients could, too.

Humans are fallible; we are going to make mistakes in our lives and in our business. Now, we all know that none of us is perfect, and it’s really easy to apply that to others, But somehow, our trickster brain sometimes gets us to believe that it’s different for us.

When we set goals for ourselves that are simply unachievable, we are setting ourselves up for failure. We are making that failure story real and then using it as evidence against ourselves. We are sabotaging ourselves before we even get started, making it that much harder to actually do the thing.

I mean.. who decides what perfect is, anyway? You? Your clients or potential clients? Which ones?

When we’re trying to be something we’re not, people can sense that. They can feel that something is off. They may not have the words to ascribe to it, but they can feel the disconnect. And THAT is what might actually keep those folks from wanting to connect with or work with you.

The New Moon is that time in the lunar cycle where we get to start fresh. As we look to new beginnings, we get to shift our energy, envision the dreams we want to create, and set aligned intentions to bring them into our reality.

The earthy and detail oriented nature of Virgo season is the perfect time for getting ourselves grounded for fall by creating an action plan for the month ahead.

Planning out our September now means that we get to fully let go and enjoy the fruits of our labor this holiday weekend because we’ll be able to pick back up with a breeze!
