Is Hard Work Worth It?
Here are my thoughts. Feel free to share yours as well.
We have been told over and over from childhood that when you work hard you will succeed. We also been told that it pays to work hard. From my high school days to my college days this has always been the song to my ears that “hard work and only hard work will make you successful.”
If you reflect on your life, where you are today and where you plan to be in the years ahead. What have you achieved and how long has it taken you? Is it all because of hard only? If you applied only hard work it may take you longer to achieve most of your goals. But you work smartly you may just achieve most of your goals in good time.
Yes, we must develop a culture of working hard but I think more importantly we must learn to be diligent and smart. To be honest it is time consuming to be working on a task that am you are not competent with. You will probably be more frustrated and demotivated by your failures. In my working life I have learnt to stick to do tasks that am competent with, it is more time saving and motivating when I complete a task.
Get me right am not advocating for laziness, hard work is not a guarantee that you will succeed but it is the only chance you have. Am only advocating that in your hard work you must also be diligent and smart.
Being smart can save you lots of time and money. Being smart entails finding better ways to achieve your desired goals. For example, if you are in sales you might consider using the internet to reach your market.
