There are 3 very important roles in Lego® based therapy
Engineer
Supplier
Builder
Everyone will get to try the different roles during their time at Emily's brick club

02/07/2019

In LEGO®-based therapy the children build models in groups of 2 or 3, with adult help. One child finds the bricks (the ‘supplier’), another has the instructions (the ‘engineer’) and a third child puts the model together (the ‘builder’). Children take it in turns to play the different roles. Other activities include building models more creatively, without instructions in pairs or small groups. The adult running the group prompts children to solve any social difficulties that might arise. The aim is to develop social interaction skills such as turn taking, collaboration, social problem solving, joint focus and communication .

01/07/2019

Looking forward to Friday when Emily's brick club launches. The aim of the group is to help children to develop social interaction skills in a friendly, fun setting. Instead of building LEGO® sets by themselves, children work in pairs or teams of three. The task of building is divided into different roles, so that social interaction is necessary to participate. By doing this, children practice key skills of collaboration, joint attention, sharing, turn taking, eye contact, communication, social problem-solving and compromise.
