“…we start pretending to be what we are not, just to please others, just to be good enough for someone else…eventually we become someone that we are not…we dishonour ourselves just to please others.”
i am rereading the book The Four Agreements by ❤️
it’s one of those books that leave you changed and i try to read it once a year to remind myself of the agreements i have with myself, the ones i might need to let go of or adjust and new ones i may need to add to my ever changing experience
it’s always a beautiful reminder at this time of year (being the month of love and all) that “…the limit of your self-abuse is exactly the limit that you will tolerate from someone else.”
this concept alone changed my life experience
knowing that the abuse i tolerate in my life is a reflection of the abuse i dish out to myself…
AND the love, grace, trust, acceptance etc i tolerate from others is also a reflection of the standards i have for myself ☺️ and that’s a beautiful thing
this book is powerful, it’s refreshing and it’s always on my ‘must read list’ 📚 and today i want to encourage you to
1. share YOUR favourite one of the 4 agreements or quote from the book
2. pick up a copy and read it this month if you haven’t read it already
