A short story 🤣⬇️
Recently I’ve had a mindset shift on how I look at exercising. For most of my life I have trained to either punish my body for over eating or because I wanted to be the smallest possible version of myself.
I’ve always been one of those people that have actually enjoyed training though. I did competitive freestyle for most of my childhood so it was ingrained in me really and as an adult I have and still am trying to find that feeling I had from practicing every night after school and then doing competitions every week.
Since becoming a mum, exercise has naturally went on the back burner and it couldn’t be my first priority since I have 2 little humans to keep alive. Whenever I did get the chance to train, I still had the mentality of go hard or go home. To the point where in some sessions I was getting dizzy and lightheaded, because my nutrition also went on the back burner and I was snacking here and there while juggling everything.
These past few weeks I’ve been listening to a few refreshing podcasts and something has clicked.
We are so privileged to be able to do any sort of movement. Whether that be a walk in nature taking in all the beautiful things or smashing an upper body workout or a 10 minute yoga video on YouTube. How lucky are we that our bodies are able to do that.
Personally what’s also shifted my mindset is that since watching my wee papa go from walking 5 miles a day after he retired to then becoming less and less mobile due to his illnesses it makes me think even more how we take our bodies for granted and don’t see the power in just being able.
So as cringey as it sounds, this is your sign to take a deep breath, treat your body with love and switch your mindset around movement to being grateful and lucky that you are able to do any sort of exercise no matter how big or small.
This shift will hopefully help you become more consistent in your habits as well and see that any sort of movement is good enough.
Don’t be too hard on yourself!
You are doing amazing ✨
