He had a seizure yesterday.

Mr.Po is 10 and has never had a single flea until we traveled with him this summer in our RV.

A breeder friend of our recommended a single dose of Capstar flea treatment. It only lasts 24 hours.

Just like for our own bodies we try and keep our animals food and lives as toxic free and wholesome as possible.

I found out just how toxic these poisons are when he fell down in a seizure and then peed himself.

He is fine today, but it was so scary and I felt horrible knowing we caused this!

He is bathed and groomed once a month, as are most Shih Tzus…and I will add a little natural flea repellant as needed.

We have had dogs in our homes for over 25 years and have never had fleas…

It made me wonder, as always, how many dogs AND people experience symptoms from medications and toxic products in general that have t connected the dots.

Beauty products, processed foods, household cleaners, scented candles, laundry detergent and softener sheets…have been proven to cause anxiety, hormone disruption, sleep problems, allergies, gut health issues, headaches…and more!

How many of us are treating environmental causes with prescriptions?

Healthy food, healthy products in our lives, healthy relationships, healthy rest, healthy activity, healthy air, healthy water…is Health Care.

Adverse side effects are risks we all take in modern life.

My goal for not only my own health, but for my family which includes my furry family is to reduce that frisk as much as possible.

I hope you do too!

Would you like to drastically lower your blood pressure?

*A recent study showed that Sesame oil and Vitamin E at just 2 T a day can do the trick!
(See study link below)

Sesame oil also blocks the affects of LPS or lipopolysaccharides. LPS has been shown to be a driving force for developing insulin resistance.

Did you know that sesame oil is considered to have antioxidant properties? That being said it actually blocks the affects of EMF (electromagnetic fields) damage in the body.

Be sure to find an organic sesame oil and also one that is unrefined and cold pressed. It should also come in a dark bottle or BPA free can.

Sesame oil has a high smoke point so it’s great for cooking. I personally like to drizzle on as a finish to my foods.

The flavor is rich and nutty and a little goes a long way!

Assuming you are good with this lovely and powerful tiny seed, you can also add a little tahini in your life!

Pure, organic tahini needs to be refrigerated after you open it.

For hummus lovers, this is the magic ingredient.

I personally no longer consume legumes like chickpeas unless they are pressure cooked so I make my hummus with roasted cauliflower.

A 1/4 cup of tahini adds a nice healthy fat content to my hummus with the olive oil.

It’s time to organize our rebellion against losing our freedoms.

From the CDC: The proposed “Shielding Approach”looks a lot like Internment Camps to me.

This is regardless of weather you were Jabbed.

They aim to separate the “high risk” from the “low risk.”

High risk are the elderly, and immunocompromised…

You will have no choice.

A room in your home, a neighborhood “sector/camp” or “community camp.”

We all need to unite, Jab or no Jab, and fight against this.

Marshal law, the use of our own military to separate people into camps would be the next steps…

Wake up people!!!

Birth control
Anti-depressants

2 Reasons why your libido may be too low.

Birth control:

Would it surprise you that many women over 40 are still taking birth control to “balance” their hormones?

The forms of estrogen and progesterone found in birth-control pills often cause low libido.

Birth control also inhibits our testosterone function. Testosterone makes not only men manly and confident, it makes women confident too. Confident at work AND in the bedroom.

Anti-depressants:

SSRI’s like Celexa, Lexapro, Prozac, Paxil and Zoloft when used long-term are linked to bleeding in the gut among other things. They create gut imbalance.

Did you know that 90% of the serotonin your body makes, one of those Happy Hormones, is produced in your gut? Fixing your gut often leads to improved mood, and a reduction or elimination of anxiety and depression for this reason.

Fix your gut, ditch the anxiety meds. There is no getting away from the Gut Brain Connection and now you can see how that connection also includes your s*x life.

Here’s another interesting fact, low serotonin production effects testosterone levels.

There we go again, lowering our s*xual desire, interest in s*x, sensual or sensitive touch and reaction as well as our body confidence in the bedroom…is all about testosterone …and the gut!

In short: Getting off birth control and anxiety and depression meds will result in repairing your gut will which help increase serotonin production which in turn helps with testosterone production. Which leads to wanting more s*x.

Your welcome!

There is a difference between TIRED and FATIGUED.

I can feel tired after a busy day or a good workout. When I am tired I can rest, hydrate, eat, sleep or all of the above and feel restored.

But fatigue is different. Fatigue settles into the brain, the gut and your very cells. When you are drained of this kind of energy, you can't fight your way out of the haze no matter how much sleep, rest, or food you get.

Fatigue is a very important symptom that your body is using to tell you that something is wrong, you are in a crisis, an ENERGY crisis.

When dealing with fatigue most people go right for adrenal issues. Sadly, this usually isn't the answer.

The foods you choose, your gut health and your liver are the biggest factors to focus in on if fatigue is dragging your down.

It's easy to fill up on quick, empty and nutrient devoid calories in today's modern times. Focusing on foods rich in nutrients and avoiding nutrient depleting foods is steps one.

Step 2 is looking at the gut. Pre and Probiotics are important. Your body depends on the Post-biotics that the gut microbiota manufacture when they are well fed with the right nutrients.

Supporting your liver will help with hormone balance, blood sugar issues, and the break down and delivery of fatty acids for good, clean fuel. This includes the production of Ketones that cross the Blood Brain Barrier that give you great mental clarity and focus.

Before you reach for the cup of afternoon coffee or stimulant herbs and supplements consider your daily choices that support your gut and liver.

Many understand that all disease begins in the gut, but few appreciate that true energy that can pull you out of fatigue is also born here.

How do you feel about eating liver?

For me, I could never embrace the taste. As I child I watched my parents enjoy their liver and onions fairly frequently as I tried to gag down my beef burger patty fried in the same oil...yuck!

I didn't like beef as a child. I still don't really care for it unless it is grass fed and grain free. It tastes different and it has a completely different nutrient profile! Grass fed cows are actually fairly high in Omega 3 fatty acids which is great for your heart, and brain and helps reduce inflammation in the body. We have beef once a week now.

Conventionally raised beef is high in Omega 6 fatty acids, not to mention those cows are given grain that was treated with herbicides like glyphosate which is passed on to the consumer of that meat. No beuno!

Many people who love grain fed conventional meat complain that grass fed meat tastes different hahah I guess people like what they are used to right? What is familiar is "better." But familiar doesn't mean healthy.

Liver and other offal or organ meats are pretty much unfamiliar territory for many Americans these days. But these organs have always been the BEST pieces reserved for the eldest and most important people in many cultures including our own before we became white meat only chicken eaters.

I prefer to make a liver pate or take liver supplements.

Eating nose to tail is a great way to consume a nutrient dense diet.

Robb Wolfe in his latest book, Sacred Cow goes over WHY we need meat and how it should be raised for consumption and the environment. I highly recommend it.

Animal products are the only true sources of premade vitamin A and D. Did you know that? Beta Carotene like that found in carrots CAN be made into vitamin A, but it's a process and some people don't do this very well to be frank.

Liver and cod liver oil are both great sources of vitamin A. Be sure to find quality sourced versions of both these foods.

The best sources of Vitamin D are the sun, fish and ghee from grass fed, no grain cows.

Liver and other organs contains the richest source of cobalmin (B12.) Many, many women are B12 deficient. And many, many women like myself gave up eating red meat thinking it was bad for us or we just didn't like red meat.

I have noticed that as women age, even beef lovers, tend to eat less because it is hard to digest. As we get older we naturally produce less stomach acid. This acid is required to fully break down that meat into amino acids that the body can use for fuel which eventually ends up as ATP for your cells.

This is an easy problem to remedy in a natural way.

Eating organ meats is highly recommended 1-2 times a week for a total of 8 ounces. Be sure to gently cook them so they remain juicy and retain more vitamins. This is why I like to gently sautee liver in garlic and onions and then blend with bacon and fresh rosemary into a pate.

Little tiny chicken hearts are easy to start with. My dad used to love them fried! I agree! Throw them in the airfryer after coating with Paleo Power which is a great grain free "bread crumb."

Do you enjoy liver? What is your favorite way to incorporate it into your weekly meals?

Ready for a great recipe?

This month has been all about taking care of YOUR liver, but eating liver is another important habit.

I must say, this is one area that I really struggle in. Hello liver supplements then! I mean the kind made from quality liver hahah

But food first is always my best recommendation.

Rule #1 get a grass fed, grain free liver. I have a local beef rancher that I use. I prefer to make a pate. Something that I can mask the taste a bit and still enjoy. But what about a nice good ol fashioned Liver and onion recipe?!

I got this one from Dr. Terry Wahls. This recipe is actually from her great-grandmother and her cookbook, The 1890 Compendium of Cookery and Book of Knowledge. WOW!

Just think about that, a cook book that was considered to be a book of knowledge. I love it! I would NOT say that about our modern day cookbooks that are pretty much just ways to combine processed food ingredients.

1/2 lb bacon (nitrate free of course)
1/2 lb mushrooms, sliced
1 tsp organic kelp poder, such as Starwest Botanical (optional)
1 lbs onions, chopped
1 2/3 lbs chicken livers (I like these because they aren't very LIVERY in flavor but have all the nutrients!)
1 T balsamic vinegar
1/2 tsp Redmond salt

In a large cast iron skillet fry the bacon. Pour off all the fat. Add the mushrooms, kelp, and onions and cook for 3-5 minutes over medium-low heat. Add livers, vinegar and salt. Cook over medium heat for 2-3 minutes. Make sure to leave the livers medium rare because overcooking will make them tough.

Now, honestly, doesn't that sound amazing! With all the great things that you are learning about your liver, you can feel confident about the nutrients that this meal will provide.

Serve with turnip, rutabega radish or kohlrabi slices.

This recipe serves 4. But if you have left overs...the next day...

Turn those leftovers into pate!

taking about 1/2 of the above recipe, add 1/4 cup olive oil, coconut oil or ghee, 1/4 cup of vinegar (your choice) and blend in a food processor.

This quick pate is great on grain free crackers!

I hope. you are enjoying this months Liver Loving content. Next week we will embark on a Liver Detox!

I am often asked:

"Can I stop relying on daily OTC or prescription pain medication by changing my diet?"

This is a common desire from almost all of my clients and students. And the answer is usually YES!

Of course there are some health situations that prescription or pain medication is necessary. And for this we should all be thankful. I firmly believe that there is a time and place for pharmaceutical assistance.

This isn’t a slam on anyone who takes meds. There should never be any judgement when it comes to how we each, as individuals decide to manage our health OR or sickness.

I am a firm believer in your right to choose in this area.

However, culturally we have come to a place in which pharmaceuticals are acting more like bandaids and not cures or answers for our health struggles.

This is what I want to talk about. Let’s dig into where you can make a difference and take a more natural approach to your health so that you can benefit from your bodies healing function. We are designed to heal.

I myself manage my inflammatory arthritis and Lupus, drug free. However, there are many women whose disease state is far more progressed than mine who depend on medication to live.

Embedding love.

I am proud to say that our sons make sure their families spend time in nature.

Nothing heals like time spent in nature with the people you love.

These mountain climbing parents are embedding an education and appreciation of nature and it’s wonders into the hearts of our grandsons.

This is how our future generations will be motivated to care for our earth.

It’s not the recycling bins and other Green rules that will ensure our planets longevity. It’s respect.

Respect is built with time and grown with relationship.

I love how the boys are pointing their little fingers. I am sure they are full of wonder AND observations.

We are so blessed to love amongst this beauty everyday in .

Over 240 million pounds of the herbicide glyphosate is sprayed on American crops each and every year.

These crops are fed not only to us humans, but also to the animals we consume.

Glyphosate is now found in our urine and even in the urine of new born babies.

Cancer, heart disease, autoimmune disease, kidney failure and more conditions have been linked to this extremely toxic chemical in thousands of studies.

It was originally thought to be harmless to humans and animals, but the jury is in.

The small price increase of organic produce and responsponsibly raised meats is worth it!

Glyphosate ruins your gut, inhibits the conversion of testosterone to estrogen, inhibits your bodies ability to detoxify foreign substances, reduces immune function, increases inflammation in the body, puts you in a minerally decifient sate and at a higher risk for cancers...

Take charge of your health and longevity. Buy organic. Money talks. You can influence how Big Ag grows food.

Glyphosate is in our food, soil and water. And it is only 1 of thousands of herbicides.

Are you traveling for the 4th?

In my latest podcast, I give 5 tips for making travel possible and awesome even if you suffer with a chronic illness.

You don't have to miss out on all the fun just because you have body pain and fatigue.

The foods you choose, the rest you take, and even the people you surround yourself can be an incredible source of nourishment while out of town.

This is the very reason why my hubby and I invested in our small travel trailer.

I know how it feels to get a social invitation and worry about how you will be able to attend.

I also no how it feels to self isolate and feel the pulling of depression on your soul because your WANT to go, but feel so bad.

Let me educate, inspire and maybe even motivate you to get out there in this weekly episode.

Arizona, Texas, Mississippi, Michigan, Ontario, Washington, Massachusetts, Tennessee…these are the license plates on the rigs closest to ours. This is one of the things I love the best about traveling, meeting new people from all over!

Traveling with Lupus has been easy so far. We hit a whenever we can, we cook 99% of our meals, we workout, sleep well and I even can work everyday from our TT.

It’s a neat community. Each morning all the dog walkers are out, p**p bags in hand…the same throughout the day. 🤣

Each evening people are outside braving the heat and humidity finding shade next to their rigs and chatting with neighbors.

It’s friendly. Sometimes more friendly than our own home town.

It’s funny how a little RV park quickly turns into a neighborhood. We know each others dogs, trucks and schedules. Everyone is very open about where they have been and where they are going and how they do it.

Making friends: Friday we went to lunch with 2 new couples and Yesterday we sat next to a couple we met at our RV park at a big church! And then later in the day we parked next to another at Walmart! So crazy!

We have never been in our travel trailer for this long and this far away until now.

Many of these people are full time! They sold it all and live on the road! I can’t imagine.

There is a family with 10 kids here and another with 8!!

Some have a home base RV park they return to once or twice a year, others are completely nomadic.

It works for them. But for us, we like roots and we like living near those roots. Our family and friends back home are part of us and we love doing life with them.

What’s your stance? Do you need a home base or could you or do you travel full time?
