Smoothie date in the sun ☀️🌱
Oat milk, greens powder, cinnamon, almond butter, pink dragon fruit, h**p seeds, soaked oats. Topped w cocao nibs, granola & almond butter.

I am a herbal tea enthusiast ☕️
In fact I would drink equivalent of 4L of herbal tea most days. My usual tea cup is 780ml so I go through a lot!
It’s my way of medicinally providing my body with what it needs, a ritual of self care, pacifying Vata dosha and optimally hydrating.
Each week/ day my teas vary.

However here is a typical day of teas for me; 🫖

☀️On Rising - spiced chai w a splash of oat milk for digestion, warmth, grounding and because it’s just yum!

🌱Am- usually a focus/ clarity tea blend because I am sipping while teaching clients.

🍋Mid Day- digestive tea or a lemon ginger. Assists with assimilation of lunch.

🌼Avo- licorice and cinnamon or more recently I have been using carob tea. A sweeter pick me up for the afternoon.

💤PM- a calming sleep blend to prepare for sleep and adrenal nourishment.

So what is Ayurveda? 💫

You may have heard about it in a yoga class once, or know it as the Doshas. Or maybe have been taking Ayurvedic herbs in your favourite adaptogenic latte without knowing anything about Ayurveda other than these herbs work great!

Ayurveda sanskrit meaning = ‘the science of life’.
It is the oldest and most comprehensive medical system, originating in India.
Its principles have helped shape many healing foundations now in the western world.
What I personally love about Ayurveda is how bio-individuality is at the core of all treatments and lifestyle practices and the entire mind, body, spirit is taken into account for all conditions. Plus daily self care practices are seen as essential for self/ body respect and prevention/ treatment of disease. It is actually considered selfish to not practice self care 🙌

Best Movement Style For Your Dosha //
Season to season, day to day, mental & physical load, chapter of life etc… can all vary what type of movement will be best for your Dosha, however here is a general guide:
💫 Vata- warming, building and gentle. Yin and restorative yoga in a warm room/ time of day. Gentle cardio like walking. Low intensity strength focusing on building stability and grounding.
Low to moderate intensity yoga and pilates.
🔥Kapha- sweat sweat sweat & move that lymph & get endorphins flowing. Jogging, cycling, fast walking. Moderate to high intensity movement. Cardio & HIIT training. Vinyasa and power pilates. A regular stretch session to keep the balance and build up gradually.
💦Pitta- keep it cool, however you do have to capacity to push harder, faster, stronger. Just know your capacity and watch you don’t push this balance and end up creating a Vata imbalance (this is me regularly). Swimming, strength training, vinyasa, pilates. Yin and restorative to balance out the go-go and cool the nervous system down. Avoid anything too heating.

Autumn = Vata Season //
Session and class planning for the week ahead 💫
Autumn is Vata season. It’s windy, airy, cool, dry and unstable.
From a movement perspective think grounding practices, balancing poses focusing on downward breathe, heat building movement, a bit of sweat to dampen the dry.
Avoid movement in the wind and layer up to be on the more warm side than cool when moving.
Also warm water in your drink bottle rather than cold to rehydrate afterwards and continue the heat circulating your system.

Some updates of late:
- I really got off track with a lot of my self care rituals, I’m slowly bringing them back. Particularly making use of the daylight saving switch to wake earlier and start my day with sun sals and a cup of tea before children wake.
- I started studying L2 Ayurveda this month. This means I will be diving much deeper into Ayurvedic Counselling over the next 12 months and of specific interest to me, herbalism, feminine form medicine and children’s Ayurveda.
- I’ve been working behind the scenes on new direction. It will still have all its original features however a whole new rebrand with next level new focus that just feels so much more aligned with the space I want to be sharing from.
(Ps. If your holding a yearly membership before we switch over, you get the whole package at that original price).
- My hair ended up rather blond unexpectedly. Choosing to sit with it for now. Thinking this was my reminder to keep this lightness going into the cooler months. Lightness in self practice, thoughts and daily fun.
- Currently the dynamic of a 17 month old and 3 yr old is a new bliss (it has been mostly chaos prior). Being besties and helping each other has meant we strangely feel we have this new found space, where they need less of us and just hang out for hours exploring and playing together…. while also leaving a trail of mess!

This week felt balanced and I found the space and energy to really settle back into nourishing routines.
This weeks movement felt everything I needed. Consistent, nourishing and definitely feeling strength building rather than just maintenance which the last 4 years have been while my energy and body was focused on growing and feeding little humans.

A little sample of the last 5 days:
💫Monday- 1 hr of Vinyasa Yoga between practicing and teaching a class.
💫Tuesday- 20 min restorative yoga + 10 min gentle strength session off THE BAREVITALITY STUDIO]] App
💫Wednesday- 40 min power pilates class I taught + 15 min yoga stretch.
💫Thursday- 12 min Yoga Flow off THE BAREVITALITY STUDIO]] App + 6km bush walk with husband.
💫 Friday- 20 min 60 Rep Yoga Inspired Challenge off THE BAREVITALITY STUDIO]] App (crazy hard!!.. if you want a challenge that won’t run run you down).

This chapter is not for pushing myself, rather gently and slowly building.
Any cardio/ running I see as a treat (it is my adrenaline love) only when I know my body has the ‘stores’ and provide it with the ‘restore’ afterwards.
Movement is a tool in our box to restore the balance as we need.
