These days it seems that we are forever chasing optimal hormone levels. Women combating PCOS, endometriosis, adenomyosis, PMS, mood changes etc; men wanting better testosterone, stamina, motivation, and endurance. We are just looking to be healthier versions of ourselves and trying to achieve health to the capacity the body has been designed.
While there are many things to look at and evaluate in terms of blood work, nutrient deficiencies, genetic components, sleep hygiene, environmental exposures and so on, let's not forget that food is medicine when used properly.
You don't have to be the next top chef or even cook daily. Just remember that simple small changes go along way and IT STARTS IN THE KITCHEN.
1. Pocessed sugars disregulate hormones period. So look to have natural sugars like fruits or sweeteners that come from nature (this in moderation)
2. Green leafy veggies help with detox, mineral replenishment, and elimination. This is great for ridding toxins on a daily basis
3. Healthy fats like olive oil, wild caught fish and fish oil, ground flax seed, almonds, pumpkin seeds all help with hormone regulation, brain health and nerve health
4. Proper hydration is essential for basic cell function. Since we are made up of cells, if we are not properly hydrates (meaning H2O and electrolytes), not one cell will function optimally. Instead, the body will prioritize functions to stay alive rather that thrive optimally.
Clean eating rule
* Eat food closest to what they look like in nature
*wild caught fish only
* grass fed red mean
*Organic fruits and veggies, or at least follow clean 15/dirty dozen list
*Grain should be organic to avoid glyphosate
I hope this is helpful and remember that Knowledge is power, but Applied knowledge is Transformational!
