One of the biggest myths I bust for my clients is the idea that they don't get results because

"I have a "slow metabolism"."

Nah - turns out, it's actually your hormones.

Hormones are communication molecules.

Some of them, like Cortisol, shout "Pack the pounds on, ASAP - we have an emergency to prepare for!!" Other hormones, which I call the Fat Release Hormones, shout "We're safe. Release the fat stores!"

Which messages do you want to send around your body? If you are like most people I work with, you want to turn on the second group of hormones.

How do you train an elephant to stay in one place?

First, you use a chain, then a rope, then a ribbon, and then finally - even a string will do the trick.

Such is the nature of most of our fears.

If you dare, try pulling on them from time to time and see if they have any real hold on you.

The first half of the year is done.

Did you like what you did with that time?

If you did or you didn't, TODAY marks the first day of the second half of the year (even starting on on a Monday just to make us type-A folks extra happy).

Here are some of the same questions I ask my clients when they reach half way though their program with me; and I thought you might find them helpful for a reflective day like today:

1. What went well over this first half?
2. What didn't go well over this first half?
4. What can I do or think differently in this next half?

Remember you can only ever change two things in your life: What you do and/or How you see it.

That's it.

Thougths or Actions.

Bonus Questions (to supercharge your progress, if you dare answer them):

4. Who or what am I letting hold me back from commiting to that thing you know will move you closer to your dreams?

5. What am I still doing that I know will really ruin my life if I ignore it any longer?

6. What would the solution/answer/next best step look like if it were simple? = and smooth, and easy?

Sometimes my clients need permission to prioritize their dreams, here's what I usually send to them to post on their wall or put in their journals:

"It's official: today my functional nutrition practitioner gave me permission to relax more, do less, say "no" 10x more often - and only say yes when it's a "HELL YES".

At first, let this prescription be the authority giving you permission to reclaim your time, energy, and focus. When others ask, say "I'm just following my practitioner's prescription". If you like, wear it like armor and shield.

As you realize that people - except ones that truly love you = want the very best for you - don't give a damn what you do, then remove that armor and shield. Learn to give yourself that permission from the wisest part of you that knows you deserve love just as you are without proof, pedigrees, or permission.

Then practice living your life and reaching your dreamiest goals that way. After all, if you don't prioritize your dreams and goals, then you will get swept up in realizing other people's dreams, goals, and agendas.

And I don't know about you, but I don't have time for that!"
