What does it mean to be metabolically healthy?
Metabolic health means your body uses food for energy in a steady, balanced way. It shows how well your main health systems work together.
Doctors look at five markers to check this. You want these in a healthy range without medicine:
1️⃣ Blood sugar. Fasting sugar should stay in a healthy range.
2️⃣ Blood pressure. Your top and bottom numbers should stay normal.
3️⃣ Triglycerides. This type of fat in your blood should stay low.
4️⃣ HDL cholesterol. Your “good” cholesterol should stay higher.
5️⃣ Waist size. A larger waist can show too much deep belly fat.
When these markers look good, your risk for diabetes, heart issues, and stroke goes down. If three or more markers fall out of range, doctors often call it metabolic syndrome, also known as insulin resistance.
