A letter from Tot:
I had sinus surgery in December 2017, and a few weeks after my surgery I noticed that I was having difficulty swallowing food. After countless doctor visits to the ENT specialist and Emergency Room I was diagnosed and treated for acid reflux. I was giving a medication that did little to nothing to help with relief. I then had to have an endoscopy and it located a mass that was connected to my esophagus and small intestine. A biopsy of the mass was then performed. While waiting for my release after the procedure, I was told that it appeared that the mass was cancerous and the hospital needed to insert a port in my collarbone to prepare for Chemo before the results were in from the biopsy.
I then received a call verifying that the biopsy tested positive for cancer. I was instructed to schedule an appointment with an Oncologist right away. During my office visit with the Oncologist, I was told that not only do I have esophageal cancer but they also located a spot on my liver. I was scheduled for a pet scan was later informed that the spot on my liver was also cancerous. I was then diagnosed with Stage 4 Esophageal cancer.
