Update- This is not yet resolved! And is not laminitis! Abscess suspected and vet has done his best to relieve pain and allow abscess to drain but to no avail as yet. It looks like a fungal issue high up in the hoof and further action by vet is expected tomorrow if no breakthrough by then. Awful to see. Emmett provides some comfort. But the vet has provided pain relief to take the edge off. (Brum was in the same boat last year with a similar issue. Proud to say with daily commitment to cleaning and the help of a great farrier,we are fairly solid now in our hooves - touch wood)! This horse has the vet’s poultice coming off this afternoon and fingers crossed, it bursts before then. Otherwise, it is going to require a hoof wall to be resected and the horse will be out for a while under the same regimen Brum went through. Emmett is still helping keep him relaxed and periodically applying the lower leg move to both front feet is being a short period of increased, less tentative movement. So I shall keep doing it.
Original post
I have just given a treatment to a horse who has signs of laminitis in one hoof, who could not weight bare on the toe at all and was practically hopping on three legs when I first saw him this morning. I do wish I took a video of that now. I did the recommended Emmett move for laminitis x 3, only on the affected limb and cannot believe this is what happened within about 15 minutes! Video taken for the owner. But if you have a looming laminitis case on your hands, Emmett laminitis first aid is available (just give me a call). And it works! I’ll update this after the vet visits and next time will get a video of the before. I am positively blown away, again, by the effectiveness of this technique. All laminitis cases require treatment to reduce pain and dietary changes. But Emmett can help, both in reduction of pain and in improvement in blood circulation and in lymphatic drainage. Something I saw with my own eyes very clearly this morning!
