Our General Assembly was held on the final day of our scientific meeting!
Membership and financial updates were presented—both are in good shape, but we’re always open to welcoming new members. Prof. Simon Mitchell shared the journal report.
🗳️ Election results were announced: Dr. Anders Kjellberg is the new Vice President, and Benoît Desgraz was elected as Member at Large. Since Dr. Kjellberg moved to VP, the second-highest vote, Dr. Pieter Bothma, will take over his previous Member at Large seat. Updates on the EUBS–ECHM merger and the Constitution & Bylaws vote were shared, comments and questions during voting were discussed. 🎥 A video invitation to the next Annual Scientific Meeting warmly welcomed us to Geneva, and future meeting locations were also revealed.🏆 The EUBS 2025 Awards were presented: Dr. Sigrid Theunissen received the Zetterström Best Poster Award as Thomas Lundmark won the Musimo Award.
And finally, we wrapped up the GA with the closing ceremony — “The Bell” was passed to the EUBS 2026 team, and the presidency officially handed over from Dr. Jean-Eric Blatteau to Dr. Bengusu Mirasoglu.

The EUBS 2025 Awards were presented during the General Assembly on the final day of our conference!
The Zetterström Best Poster Award went to Dr. Sigrid Theunissen for her work: “Comparison of the effects of two types of scopolamine treatments on sea sickness.” The Musimo Award for the best research related to freediving was awarded to Thomas Lundmark for his study: “Can Heart Rate Variability be an indicator of stress and recovery in repeated freediving?” Both winners received free registration for the next Annual Scientific Meeting.
👏 Congratulations to both researchers for their excellent contributions!

The 49th Annual Scientific Meeting has come to an end!
With diverse workshops, engaging keynote speeches, and a comprehensive program covering all aspects of our field, it was an exciting and inspiring event for all participants.
Our sincere thanks go to the local organizing committee for the excellent organization, and to all the speakers and participants whose valuable contributions made the meeting a true success.
Finally, the "bell" has been passed to the Geneva team — so mark your calendars and save the date for our 50th meeting!

Day 1 Highlights - EUBS2025
The first day of our scientific meeting has come to a close!
We kicked off the day with insightful workshops, followed by an opening ceremony with breathtaking underwater photography presentations, and the very first session on diving medicine.
The evening wrapped up with a warm and elegant welcome reception at the glorious Helsinki City Hall — the perfect setting to unwind and connect.

📣 Big News from EUBS & ECHM!
EUBS and ECHM has been considering a merger, as both organizations share similar goals/objectives and it makes sense to use our resources efficiently to enhance these!
In order for the two organizations to merge while still maintaining their individual independence, some changes to the Constitution and Bylaws are required. And these changes must be approved by our members.
You can find more details and all relevant documents on our website, at http://www.eubs.org/?page_id=263. Please review them and cast your vote and comment if you wish to on the proposed changes using the Ballot that was sent to you earlier this month. Last day to vote is August 30th!

Please do participate, as this is an important moment in the history of our Society!
